Bio

Sudden Anthem emerged out of a friendship between two established songwriters, Hunter Paye, and Joshua Rivera. Their ecstatic late-night combinations of songwriting and harmonies layed visions of promise in their head. Joshua collected a group of new exciting players, all close friends, who had a willingness to be in a unique original project, and the marathon six-hour rehearsals began. The band has only been gigging since march (2008) but their commitment to long practices and fine-tuning of the songs quickly created a project that has mesmerized attendees at the growing amount of shows they've played. They have just released their self-titled debut album- recorded at one of Portland Oregon's premier recording studios ( The Decemberists, Spoon, M. Ward). Among other accolades, within months of their conception they were named as regional finalists in the Mountainstage Newsong contest. This band is incredibly dynamic with a sound that spans the realm of musical possibilities. As joyous as it is enveloping, and as foreboding as it is ethereal, their sound is novel and unified by utilizing their diverse musical backgrounds. Sudden Anthem, much like its name, is a sound of epic proportions that arrives with grace and departs with a ferocity that lingers. Whatever hits at the core is what they are trying to carry forward.
