"STYLE OVER SUBSTANCE REVIEW ON TSM RADIO"

We are honoured that TSM Radio have decided to say some lovely words, in the form of a review, about our song 'Style Over Substance'. TSM have dedicated themselves to new and unsigned music so check them out! http://www.tsmradio.net

Here's what the lovely Tiff Woosley said:

"Making an entrance with a thumping, bold and breezy beat, please welcome Suds & Soda - a self-professed but anonymous Soho-based electro-glam duo. There's no question about it, the mysterious twosome (who by the way have a beautifully kitsch MySpace page) sure know how to lay down some beats. Influenced by the likes of fellow electro gems CSS and Ladytron, Suds & Soda master the art of electro so very well - in fact, as I listen my feet are itching to dance.

The nice thing about Style Over Substance is, well, self-explanatory. So often nowadays the electro music scene spews out the same old rhythm mixed with tunes that are really getting on a bit - but not Suds & Soda. Reminiscent of the sounds created by Hot Chip, this track manages to blend mellow yet vibrant melodies with box fresh rhythms so that the end product is simply cracking. This is especially true of the bridge between chorus to verse - it's pretty smooth. The lyrics too are something worth mentioning - a particular favourite of mine is 'I like my men in cardigans' - I mean, don't we all? Exploring what it is to be 'cool', the track is so self-aware that it becomes cool on a totally different level - not only does it sound good, but the fact that it is aware of itself as a particular genre lets the track take a new approach to electro music. The end line is particularly truthful, be sure to give it a listen.

On top of all that, the vocals are simply gorgeous and mix brilliantly with the tone of the track; it's really quite something. 'Does that make them cool?' - yes, in fact, it does."

Bio

Some years ago, in a land far, far away, where penguins huddle together to protect their unborn young, a green, glass bottle, with a peculiar piece of paper inside, was washed to shore. The King of penguins declared to his people that this curious object from foreign lands was a sign of hope in the never-ending winter that they, and their ancestors, had suffered with such dignity. An ice temple was built to house the bottle of purest green and penguins from far and wide visited the temple to pray and so forth. Believing the code on the peculiar piece of paper held the answers to everything, the King hired the best penguin scholars of all the land to try and decipher it. Alas, so far their efforts have been in vain but little do they know that the text on that piece of paper inside the curious, green, glass bottle that they have worshipped for so long, is the mad, gibbering biog of Suds & Soda; and the only one that there will ever be.

So sadly, the identity of Suds & Soda will remain a secret until penguins learn to read English or until someone extremely brave makes the long and treacherous journey to uncover their secrets.
