Bio

SueAnn Carwell's voice captures and enthralls audiences and seasoned performers whenever she steps on stage. A rare talent, she has the voice to carry any genre of music. From funk, R&B, pop, gospel, jazz, to blues, SueAnn's voice will carry the listener to the highs and lows of life with a depth and richness that is unparalleled. As an experienced artist, writer, producer and highly regarded vocal arranger with over 30 years in the business, Ms. Carwell has arranged and sung with such icons as; James Brown, Whitney Houston, Patti LaBelle, Rod Stewart, Prince, Christina Aguilera, Toni Braxton and Celine Dion, just to name a few. A powerful stage performer, she translates all the passion she possesses into her show, which adds up to one thing...When SueAnn sings a song, the song stays sung!

SueAnn has four solo albums and CDs under her belt, an extensive discography of work, and has also been a contributing vocal artist and songwriter for various movie soundtracks. Some of her work has been featured in numerous film productions such as Moulin Rouge, Road to El Dorado, Coyote Ugly, Beverly Hills Cop II, Notting Hill, Up Close & Personal, but her most familiar work is the duet she co-wrote and sang “Plan on Forever” with Merve Warren of “Take 6,” which was the theme song for the movie the Wedding Planner. Children and adults also are quite familiar with her “catchy” duet with Joey Diggs, “Dancin' A Catchy Rhythm,” which is still the featured song of the Walt Disneyworld parade. The song she wrote and sang for Richard Elliot's Crush CD, “Brand New Love Affair” was a hit in the smooth jazz world and nominated for a grammy while her vocal version of Jeff Golub's remake of “Cut The Cake” helped launch his career in the same genre.

SueAnn has honed her skills over the years by continually enmeshing herself in her passion for music, learning from and working with some of the greatest writers, producers, and performers in the industry. Well respected as a consummate professional, she has been sought out to work with legends like Burt Bacharach, Norman Whitfield, Dianne Warren, David Foster, James Brown, Rod Stewart, George Clinton and contemporaries such as Kirk Whalum, Rick Braun, Jeff Golub, George Duke and Boney James. SueAnn's chameleon like voice lends to her ability to provide an exhilarating, heartfelt, and solid interpretation of any musical composition which is why she has been dubbed with the moniker “The Money Note.”

Her latest blues CD Blues In My Sunshine, an organic, charismatic, authentic blues album done in collaboration with Jesse Johnson, the brilliant guitarist, musician, and producer, who is known for his involvement in history making music projects such as the band "The Time" was nominated in seven categories for the 2011 Grammy's and has garnered great reviews and received nationwide radio airplay. Work has already begun on her fifth and newest CD, a mixture of original and smooth jazz which should make it a sexy, enjoyable, and inspiring listening experience.

SueAnn Carwell is a power house performer, dynamic, passionate and commands both the stage and her audience, providing a stunning live show experience. Fresh off a show in North Carolina in which she was featured on the same bill as John Coltrane Jr, Pattie Austin, Kirk Whalum, Ronnie Laws, Tom Brown and Lonnie Liston she has continued to perform as a featured artist in numerous venues including performances alongside George Clinton with Parliament Funkadelic.

Sue Ann is grateful for having accomplished more than she could have ever dreamed of. As a woman matured by all of life's experience, she continues to employ her sultry powerful voice and her tremendous vocal and stylistic range to take us on an ultimate journey of the soul.
