Sue-Louise Neumann

BandFolkAcoustic

Solo Australian acoustic singer-songwriter - focus on acoustic guitar and piano ballads with a bit of a country/folk feel.

Biography

I have been writing and playing original music since I was a teenager. Current influences include mostly Australian artists such as Crowded House, Missy Higgins and The Audreys, as well as some international artists such as Avril Lavigne. My music has a melancholy feel as I tend to write to express emotions that relate to sad or intense feelings, although I occasionally do write in a major key. My songs are an expression of my experiences in life.

A cross to bear

Written By: Sue-Louise Neumann

A Cross To Bear © Sue-Louise Neumann February 2007

Vs 1: Sailing boats across the water looking so serene

Who’d have thought that anything could touch you and make you bleed

Don’t it make you cry – if only for a while

Vs 2: Killing thoughts of fear you end up shouting in your sleep

Wishing that the demons in your head would let you be

Still they make you cry - when you ask them why

Chorus: We all bear a scar We all see a shadow

And what takes us down can be nothing more than a misplaced frown

Still we all survive

Bringing our cross to bear - keep ourselves whole

Vs 3: People change your life around and then they let you be

Then they come and tell you that you’re not all that you seem

Do they make you cry - make you want to hide

Vs 4: Knocking on your door you can’t escape them easily

Even if you hide away they hunt you down in need

You want to make them cry - to see if they’re alive

Chorus

In your eyes

Vs 1: Always hoping, always dreaming living in a haze
How much can you take before you
Fade away and lose your way in your complicated scene
Don’t give it away – don’t leave

Ch 1: And I won’t believe the sadness in your eyes
So close the curtains – leave the tears outside

Vs 2: Always reading too much into everyday routine
Its impossible to know what you believe
Never thinking you might just be over keen
To live every moment to extreme

Ch 2: But I won’t believe the madness in your eyes
So close the curtains – leave your fears outside

Bridge: So if this is how its meant to be then stay inside your fantasy
And I wish you well Yea I wish you well

Ch 3: Still I won’t believe the sadness in your eyes
So open up your curtains – let the world see you shine

What of your life? You close the door and say goodnight?

End Of The Day

Written By: Sue-Louise Neumann

The End of the Day

Vs 1:

See faces smiling through candlelight – they look so nice, so right
Tables for 2 with roses and wine – a sacred shrine where we can hide

Chorus:

Cause it’s the end of the day, and all the clouds have gone away
And I can see again – be with you again

La da da da da, la da da da da ah wo-oh (x 2)

Oh don’t ask me why I am sleeping quite alright at night when my mood should be
blue
And don’t make me cry if I don’t want to I’m allowed to hide in my room till I’m
through

Vs 2:

Working each day takes toll over time we start to whine – overwind
Day dreams keep waking, still they keep bright the dreams in sight – so dream we might

Chorus

Vs 3:

So hold me so closely, don’t let me go and we’ll be fine – at least this time

Chorus

Glide Away

Written By: Sue-Louise Neumann

Glide Away

Vs 1: Yesterday the sun didn’t come out and it made me sad
Got me thinking bout all the things that I just can’t have
Like snow on my garden

Cause the moonlight brightens up my heart
And the load on my shoulders seems to

Ch: Slide away Glide away

Vs 2: Yesterday I couldn’t believe my own two eyes
Looking at the world like its in black and white
And I know its an illusion
But I can’t seem to shake it now
Got those old blues eating up my hope
And the waves upon the water seem to

Ch: Die away Glide away

Vs 3: Understanding’s freezing up my doubts
And my memories comfort me somehow
And the weight of my burdens seem to

Ch: Fly away Glide away x 2

Waiting for a Miracle

© Sue-Louise Neumann 2008

Chorus:

I’m just waiting for a miracle – the sweetest simple goddamn miracle
How bout you – do you want one too – I bet you do

Vs 1:
Watch my fate get out of bed
Eat its breakfast, comb its hair
It says ‘I know what you don’t, and I don’t think you’d want to stray to far,
Cause these times are hard’, so..

Chorus

Vs 2:
Try to make a new start
Shouldn’t have to be this hard
And if you knew what I knew, you wouldn’t even contemplate this farce
Oh its such a laugh, so..

Chorus

Break:
Try not to ask too many questions or make promises
cause they may not last

Repeat chorus

Sleep

Written By: Sue-Louise Neumann

Sleep
© Sue-Louise Neumann May 2008

Vs 1:
Lying here and trying to untangle what you want when
You come here and speak your peace then leave me
What you say is mean – let it go now, cause I don’t need this pain

Ch:
Let me go to sleep - I just want to go to sleep
Close my eyes and go to sleep, let it go now

Vs 2:
City streets I’m wandering – its dark now, shops are closing
No one wants to see a face that’s needing
Just to hear the truth – where did that go now? Is honesty too hard?

Ch:
I think I’ll go to sleep - I just want to go to sleep
Close my eyes and go to sleep, let it go now

Vs 3:
Don’t look away
Now I’m here to see your shame
And hear your plea – what are you thinking?
You see the last one standing is me

Ch:
Now I will go to sleep - I just want to go to sleep
Close my eyes and go to sleep, let it go now
Sleep - I just want to go to sleep
Throw my thoughts away and sleep, let it go now, let it go
