"Sonic Twin’s Share Eighties’ Elegy ‘Digital Love’"

If there is ever a sequel to the movie ‘Drive’ this track has to feature. ‘Digital Love’ sees Austin’s Sonic Twins eat up eighties synths at the rate Ryan Gosling tears up tarmac. The bass is heavy, the textures smooth, and the vocal lines lush. But these twins aren’t identical to the rhythms which they replicate. As with earlier single ‘All Animals/The Next One’ they pick and choose from other periods, with the close vocal harmonies of the sixties sitting alongside noughties dreampop. This, along with the contemporary concerns of the track, presents ‘Digital Love’ as being firmly in the present – postmodern minus the pretension. - Born Music

Bio

(FORMERLY SONIC TWIN)

In 2018, Synth-driven indie pop duo Sugarcub formed in Austin, Texas releasing their debut single "All Animals / The Next One".

Performing as a two piece using sequenced bass lines, synthesizers, electric guitar, and drum machines, the band's lo-fi sound has the flexibility to fit well in both high energy and low key environments.

Originally from the West Coast, Jon French (Vocals / Guitar) and Gabrielle Rose (Vocals / synthesizer) moved to Austin and opened a bakery together (Clever Baking Co) in the summer of 2017. During their daily ritual of making pastries and listening to an eclectic mix of indie records they realized they had a shared affinity for feel-good synth heavy sounds. The duo spent the next year making demo tapes that ultimately culminated in the warm synergetic tone of their most recent singles.

Heavily influenced by American bands Beach House and Gardens & Villa, their sound also drew comparisons to artists like Phantogram, Talking Heads, Cults, Lower Dens, and Still Corners.

A collection of singles, produced by Evan Crowley was mixed/mastered at Orb Recording Studios and will be released throughout 2018-2019.
