Bio
Sugar Mama began playing together in February 2008. Kyle and Josh met while playing in a Berklee College of Music ensemble class in 2006 and had both been in the Erin Barra Band since 2007. After realizing their shared love for 90s Alternative rock they decided to ask Dan, who Kyle worked with at Fordham Road practice facility, to come jam with them. Dan had a similar love affair with hard rock, funk, and reggae and their first sessions together were explosive. Soon after Kyle started bringing in riffs and they began putting songs together as well as jamming covers of the bands they loved. They recorded their first 3 song demo at 64 Ridgemont St. in Allston in March of 2008 and played their first show at All Asia in Cambridge in May of 2008. Since then they have played venues such as The Draft, Bill's Bar, The Abbey Lounge, and Oliver's in Boston, World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, and Arlene's Grocery in New York City. They also recorded another 3 songs at Mix 1 Studios in Boston and are about to begin recording a full length album there in the next 2 months.
