Bio
From Victoria / Vancouver Island comes a sensational new young artist, Adrienne Chouinard aka Sugar Samples.
Having written, performed and self produced her own material since 2005's Party Dolls EP, Adrienne has been creating a instantly identifiable blend of indie dance rock fused with the accessibility of pop music. Vocally and lyrically her songs express the frustrations of intimate relationships and the bitter sweetness of love lost, but these dark and moody themes are perfectly contrasted by her immediate hooks and strong moving arrangements. Her emotionally charged sound and voice is all her own but most closely resembles other Canadian female fronted acts like the Metric, Controller Controller and The Organ. Some of her eclectic influences and inspirations include Madonna, BRMC, Bjork, Nelly Furtado, Danny Elfman and 80's top 40 Radio.
In 2006 Adrienne released the double A-side Fairweather Friend / Replace single and the more jazzy and ambient sounding " Amara Sola " EP, a progression from her previous album in content, production and performance. Also in 2006 three songs from the Party Dolls EP including the title track appeared in two well received Canadian independent films ( Crossed, Struggle ).
2007 will see the " Amara Sola " album being re released with mixing and mastering by Dirk Vanderwal ( Lion Thief ) and she is currently working on a new project with the beautiful boys of Run Chico Run, Matt Skilling and Thomas Shields ( Vin Cat, Chet )
An accomplished singer-songwriter, musician Adrienne Chouinard ( Sugar Samples) is a bright new talent in Canadian music.
