""Dead Generation" reviewed in Maximum Rock'n'Roll #319"

... - Maximum Rock'n'Roll

""Dead Generation" reviewed in Kids And Heroes Magazine"

Almost every user of myspace is every day bombed by "friend requests“ from bands who are totally uninteresting or even worse irritanting. So it’s really great suprise if from time to time you get request from some cool band which you‘ve never heard before and on the top it’s totally your cup of tea. That’s exactlly what happened to me with swedish quartet Suicide Syndicate! Few weeks later their debut vinyl was on my turntable and I must say that especially 1st side of the record totally kicked my ass!
Title song "Dead generation“ sounds completely like updated version of Lords of the new chuch song "New church“ with totally similar song structure and feeling, just sound is changed to modern Backyad babies-ish rock n roll feel, instead of that for Lords typical 80’s pop sound. It’s amazing opener of the record with dark atmosphere, cool hooks and great sing a long, which will remain in your head for while.
2nd song on the A side "F.T.L.“ is another great song based on catchy guitar riff and really good back-up vocals. Chorus is little bit street punk-ish, but in good meaning of the term.
The result was that i listened to the 1st side of record for maybe 20 times over and over again.
B side starts with "more rock less punk“ song "Seven Bullets“, wich had typical modern scandinavian post-Backyard Babies feel. For me it’s probably the weakest song on the record, but still it’s a really good one. But the last one "We got the razors tonight“ is another winner, which kick you back to the punk rock dance floor and with no mistake serves well proved mix of catchy gutar riffs with good chorus and powerfull back-ups. This is how the good rock’n’roll should be done anyway!
In the end, Suicide Syndicate sounds exactly like mixture of the bands they wear on shirts and patches at their promo pictures hahaha. You can hear bit of Lords of the new church, bit of Social Distortion, bit of Dead boys and even Backyard Babies and all these elements put together with enough of energy, modern sound and their own face. How could you go wrong with mixture like this, especially if the band is able to do it really well, as these guys are!
I must say that this 10“ is one of the most pleasant musical surprises of which i got into my hands this year till now. So i’m really looking forward to see these guys live at 007 Club in Prague on 1st of April together with Texas Terri!

Bio

Singer/lead guitarist and underground legend Bengtsson has since the early days of the cult band "Mobile Mob Freakshow" been one of Scandinavia's most consistent and uncompromising punks, which becomes relentlessly loud and clear while listening to Suicide Syndicate. Their 2009 debut EP "Dead Generation" drips of climaxing moments that grab you by the balls and never let go.
Suicide Syndicate are here to prove that they have nothing to prove. They merely wish to remind you that it never can be too late for a retroactive abortion.
Stay tuned for their new high in low taste, "Bad Wolves Eat Small Pigs", which will see and reject the daylight in 2011, and make sure you see them NOW - while they're still alive!
