Bio

Suitably Twisted is a band composed entirely of members of Hallmark’s Writing & Editorial staff. The band was formed in 2002 as an idea for Word Week, Hallmark’s annual celebration of the written word. Several writers and editors got together to write and perform parody lyrics to classic rock, blues and pop songs. Since most of the parody songs have been about the foibles and zaniness of the corporate world in general and Hallmark in particular, the band’s performances proved quite popular with Hallmarkers. The band members appreciate that management has not only been supportive of them poking fun at Hallmark and corporate life, but has even had the band play for a number of corporate events over the last several years: United Way kickoffs, conventions of Hallmark store owners, Diversity Days, a licensing agreement celebration with Warner Bros., as well as for Word Week each year. Suitably Twisted is a melding of two Kansas City traditions: the Blues (and the Rock & Roll that sprang from it) and Hallmark Cards. The songs on the submitted CD are performed straight, but since this is a Battle of the Corporate Bands, if Suitably Twisted advances to the regionals, one song in its performance will likely be a parody of corporate life.
