"Ears Wide Open: Sullen Ray"

Sullen Ray is not very downcast at all. In fact, it’s not even Ray. No, Sullen Ray is the musical vehicle for singer-songwriter-guitarist Seth Eubanks, now joined by singer-songwriter Dee Clement after previously working with a rotating cast of collaborators. Their new single “Without Out” offers a cinematic slice of atmospheric guitar pop — imagine, here, a movie protagonist driving a coastal highway deep in thought. The song is from the new full-length “Blue Minor,” the first of three albums named for primary colors the duo plan to release. If this is their artistic blue period, the rest of the spectrum holds a lot of promise. -Kevin Bronson - BuzzBands.LA

"5 Dope Artists You’ve Never Listened To"

1. Without You - Sullen Ray [Chillwave]

The ‘one woman, one man’ band template has been pretty damn popular lately. I will admit that the image is a bit cliché at this point, but the problem lies in the fact that a lot of these bands take it one step further by actually sounding cliché. Then, of course, there are bands like Sullen Ray.

In “Without You” the Los Angeles duo perfectly layer every element of what should be a ballad over fast-paced drums, serving as the backbone of the track’s true character. Whereas your typical indie-rock band would sacrifice emotion for serenity, Sullen Ray are both dreamy and engaging. -Gabriel Colucci - TempoTrader

"Custom Made Music – October Sampler 2014"

"Probably my favorite track on the sampler. Real Tropical Indie vibes, that surfer sound, that rolling drum beat, those vocal effects. Though ideally music for the summer, I can hack a dark rainy drive to this one. Get more of these LA boys" - JOSHBTB

Sullen Ray is the music of Seth A. Eubanks from Poulsbo, WA

A-Side is the first half of the new album Outside The Color Wheel. Broken into two parts A-side and B-side for song flow and musical ideas.

Sullen Ray wanted to "pay homage" to the days when albums were on vinyl and cassette.
