"13th Floor Elevators Tribute in Galveston, TX"

A TRIBUTE TO ROKY ERICKSON AND THE 13TH FLOOR
ELEVATORS

Sumner Erickson ... lead an ace band through a broad sampling of Elevator’s material...diving to the heart of the matter... with a searing version of “You’re Gonna Miss Me”.

...the band found an intense groove...

The Elevator’s weren't back, but this was going to be pretty close.

... a mesmerizing version of “The Kingdom Of Heaven”...

... Sumner’s imitation of Roky’s primal screams...brought a number of knowing smiles.

...in it’s live form, (the music) maintains a melodic vitality and lyrical relevance the equal of any in
rock, despite its relative obscurity.

Bio

Sumner Erickson is a native of Austin, Texas. He has had a long career playing “both kinds of music”: classical and popular. After 23 years with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as their tuba player he is currently following his bliss to sing. To follow that bliss, he returned from Pittsburgh to Austin in 2004. Since then he has played dozens of solo shows and formed and performed many more shows with his band The Texcentrics. He released his first “singing” CD me, guitar and a mic Vol. 1 in October 2008. The Texcentrics debut is in it’s final stages of completion.

Sumner only plays Texas music. His own and that of great Texas artists like Roy Orbison and his oldest brother Roky.
