"Detroit-styled power-pop"

“The Sunday Painters...are ready to blow minds again with their raucous brand of Detroit-styled power-pop, following in the vein of The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and The Faces”
- Real Detroit Magazine

"Sunday Painters on The Lounge Act"

"Eric, Ron and Jeff take you head first, pop, rock into the indie rock galaxy." Their harmonies and pop stylings will catch you by surprise and leave you quenching for more. I give them four out five drum sticks up. The Sunday Painters are in my steady rotation. Check the painters out live if you get a chance!!!

Bio

The Sunday Painters are a three-piece power pop band based in Detroit, Michigan. Their sound can be described as having catchy, hook laden vocal melodies and harmonies with hard edged guitars and a powerhouse bass and drum rhythm section. Although they have been compared to some of today’s power pop acts, you can also hear the influence of some of the best pop rock acts from the 60’s in the Sunday Painter’s sound. Think Sloan/Fountains of Wayne meets The Who/The Kinks. The Sunday Painters live for their performances, but the band firmly believes that it all starts with great songs.

The Sunday Painters were started by the songwriting duo of Ron McPherson and Eric Freeman. Their songs have received airplay both locally and regionally, and charted on college and independent radio. With Ron on guitar and Eric on drums, the duo started playing live shows in the Detroit music scene in the fall of 2000 using a line up of guest musicians. In 2007, the duo became a power trio with the addition of Kyle Kipp on bass. All three members sing vocals, allowing the band to perform the thick pop harmonies that they write to accompany their driving guitar-bass-drum arrangements.

During the summer of 2006 The Sunday Painters battled their way into the finals in The Detroit News Sonic Summer Battle of the Bands Contest. Over 25,000 Detroit area music fans voted and placed The Sunday Painters in the Top Nine.

The band is currently recording new material for their debut full length CD, which will be released in the Fall of 2006. The CD will include favorites from their live show, including “Another Loose End”, “See What I See”, “The Waiting Game”, “See In Me”, “I’ll Be There”, and “Invisible Man”
