"BACK UP - CD Review"

BACK UP shows the band is just as creative as ever. . . "Steve Sutton and Alex Arbaugh are the best kind of players – they know they got the chops, and don’t have to prove it. There’s no running up and down the instrument, or a cascade of notes – just a lot of imaginative and difficult licks placed exactly where they need to be."

"BACK UP - CD Review"

Sun Dried Opossum is one tight ensemble. Lots of folks try to keep the classic southern rock style alive and fail miserably. These guys, on the other hand, keep the music heavy and fun with massive guitar solos and hard choppy riffs without watering down or being overly cheesy. These guys are here to rock the party. Period. - The Hook - 8/18/05

"Sun Dried Opossum Rocks Outback"

"Playing very fast and intricate tunes, the band displayed their musical prowess and ability. Given Sun Dried's energy. . . they are suited for outdoor summer festivals and amphitheatres." - C-ville Weekly

Bio

Sun Dried hails from the Shenandoah Valley at the foot of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Formed in 1997, SDO is a power trio writing songs that are true to their roots. Their music is best described purely as Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The group has independently released three full-length original CD’s. Their third disc, Back Up was released to a sold out crowd at Clocktower Tavern in Staunton, VA on April 2nd, 2005. LA producer Andrew Alekel produced, recorded, and mixed the disc. He has worked with Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer, Rancid, and many more. His expertise has yielded the most accurate portrayal of the band captured in the studio thus far.

Sun Dried has opened shows for Southern Culture on the Skids, Rose Hill Drive, Mofro, Heartless Bastards, Project/Object, Donna The Buffalo, The Wailers, Joe Bonamassa, Carbon Leaf, Tony Trischka, and more. July 28th 2006 found them rocking a rootsy Floyd Fest crowd into a frenzy. On August 15th, 2004 they warmed up the side stage crowd for The Dead show at Nissan Pavilion. On July 15th, 2005 they played side stage for Allman Brothers & moe. at Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheatre.

The band is renowned for their high-energy live performances. Surprise audience members have occasionally asked if they could join SDO on stage. Two such favorites are Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers Band) and Bill McKay (Leftover Salmon).

SDO plays over 100 shows each year. They are a tight and professional band.
