Willingly so, behind the front lines, but some shit happened that has propelled me to continue through the production of a couple of slowly evolving musical works. ----------------------- ------------------------------------ 1st, I wrote some songs because some poets, musicians, the streets and street culture and absences of nature inspired me to. I took those inspired ideas and presented them to some veterated minds of Toronto city. Voila! My first 'coming out of my proverbial closet' began when I was sitting in on a free noon hour of music at the Music Gallery being played by the late percussion ensemble headed by the later Director Barry Prophet. I joined them in a structured improvised session of worldly and unique contemporary instruments. I took to the water bowl (dry staccato violiny) and tranced the fuck out. they were impressed, i was impressed and happy was the crowd. very good! My next most memorable experience was when I was a part of the awesome performance group, based outta Toronto, Fable House. I did a performance piece to my Toronto soundscape Composition and it was wild and everyone was so free and creative. I was shy, of-course, but I was totally inspired by everyones ode's to inspiration. I luv that group. Then......... After playing giutar for 10 years (and still not being able to play very well) I took by heightened sense of hearing and tonal awareness, matched by verbal blusters of thought, to the stage. I attended several open mics I was welcomed well and warmly and at times excitedly. this was a nice change from the acapella I would contribute at parties when I was 16 (although I appreciated the than yous and drunken blurts of niceness and non-niceness) or the Edith Piaf mimings I performed at a guild convention. And now it is Sunsar, her acoustic , her electric and little nick nacks and the occassional heart starter loosening her soul eminations for wiley folks. while offering a string of musical floss for those tartered nether regions of the brain....--------------------------------/////////////////////////??????????///////////pppp]= ;'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''......................................................................... .................................................................................................................. The schizophrenic aspect of my songwriting becomes with my participation in electroacoustic soundscape compositions that began for me approx. 10 years ago. After studying with japanese composer Tomo Koropanda for 1 year I ventured off to Art School. While I was studying Fine Art Drawing and Painting I came across the likes of composer Wendelin Bartely. Without her evening realizing it, as she later mentioned, she inspired a world in me the was aching to be released. I express this in my Toronoto soundscape Composition. Wende taught me the fine practice of 'Listening'. With the aid of her mentorship and undeniable support I am compiling a few electroacoustic compositions that I have been creating for the past 3 years. I will be releasing a limited edition of these songs in the coming year (2007) on my schizo label "Intuitive Combinatorics" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
