Sunshowers

Sunshowers

New York City, New York, USA
BandRockAlternative

Dueling electric guitars and vocals from the land of reverb, or 60s surf rock riffing with the finesse of mid-1970s California pop rock.

Biography

Matt met Lindsay while she was busking on the 23rd Street 6 platform. He almost missed the train while she scrambled to hand him a card. Emails were exchanged, and a coffeehouse meeting on a very, very rainy day in Brooklyn begat Sunshowers.

We love: sonic oceans, actual oceans, tremolo, ’60s surf rock, harmonies, and traveling.

The sun, bearing down on me
Lovers, hang out in the trees
Let’s go downtown for dancing
Let’s go down the strip, down the avenue

Well you hear the washing on the shore
Love in California’s like this
There’s nothing but these beach towns and long roads
Going down to where you wanna be

Chorus:
Oh, tell me about the night sky
And we’ve got nothing here, but your hand in my back pocket
Oh, we’ve only got tonight
I’ll never see you again

The sun, slipping like a tongue
We chase them, when no one’s around
I’ve got words in my head, as my fingers
Well, they’re touching you

(guitar solo, chorus)

A Road, A River, A Sea

A Road, A River, A Sea

I remember when we used to cross the river, to see what was beyond
Before the bridge shook like a tree, and left us nowhere to run
‘Cause you belong near the ocean
And I point the car away, point it away

I see a ship six miles below, and know that distance only grows
Engines roaring, and pistons kicking one star-crossed spark along
We go over the ocean, but I see the desert sand / way out west

Chorus:
Oh, I’m not home, and I look away
I’d rather leave you here, than take it all away
The summertime ends, the tide rolls away
So much reeling, between a road, and a river, and a sea

I remember when we talked about forgiveness, but I just won’t forgive
As I look over the mighty river, I have nowhere left to go
So I go under the river, / but there are days I want to stay away, stay away

Oh, I’m not home, and I look away
I’d rather leave you here, than take it all away
Well the seasons change, and the tide rolls away
So much reeling, between a road, and a river, and a sea

Alpha Centauri

Meet me by Alpha Centauri – a quiet corner of the sky
There’s dust on our lips – from kissing falling stars
I want to tell you tonight
That Hera, she was a jealous wife/ Zeus, he spun her around and around
Meet me by Alpha Centauri, I want to tell you tonight

Chorus:
Keep on running / and you find yourself standing on the holiest of ground
Would you come on up? Look for simply answers? Or would you walk on by
And you won’t come down

In my head, there were supernovas
All I heard, all I saw was light
But then you left, and I was standing all alone
But then I knew you were a mortal, mortal man

(chorus, bridge, solo, chorus)

Meet by Alpha Centauri,
A quiet corner of the sky

In My Middle

In My Middle
(Dragan/Keesan) Copyright 2012

I see world now in pastel colors, but lately I only see in charcoal
I close my eyes and I think I’m falling
I close my eyes and I wake up standing

Like I’m leaning against a broken windowpane
The water’s comin’ in, I can’t quite remember my name
So come on, baby, won’t you stay with me awhile
So you can ease the pain in my middle

Don’t leave yet, don’t leave yet, I promise I’ll be so good

Independence was a lighthouse I saw over yonder
Independence always seemed to slip through my hands
So go on, get out, no won’t you stay here awhile?
So you can save yourself, so you can save your mind

Don’t leave yet, don’t leave yet, I promise I’ll be so good

Stay awhile, walk side by side
But we don’t see / eye to eye
