Bio

In 1895 Wilhelm Roentgen accidentally discovered x-rays when his experiments reveals the shadows of the bones in his hand through the static.

Suns Of Static emerged in Kingston, Ontario in 2008 in a similar spirit of unexpected discovery. Introduced while jamming with a common friend, Bill Cassidy and Geoff Jarvis began writing music based on ideas pulled from rough demos, riffs and song scraps. In Bill's home studio, Starfish Prime Studios, they were able to begin crafting those ideas into polished demos. Over the course of several months getting together with other local musicians, including Travis Blackmore on drums, there was a spark that ignited the idea of taking this to the next level. The potential they heard in their (nascent) music was too great to ignore, and they set about finding a vocalist who they hoped would compliment the sound in a unique way. They wanted to stand out from the crowd of modern rock bands. Eventually, they found Sauvelm McClean, with knowledge of keyboards and some original music experience with his former afrobeat band, Living Planet, there was no telling how the styles would blend.

The resulting sound is a sonic onslaught of powerful, captivating grooves with vocal melodies that both soar and punctuate the solid rock instrumentals, with lyrics that draw on imagery and metaphors inspired by wonders and terrors of our modern age. The band has been busy writing, recording and preparing to release their debut CD, set to release in early 2010.
