SUNSTRAND

Sunstrand is Gabi Almeida new project.
Born in Brazil, Gabi has lived in Sao Paulo, London, Barcelona and Berlin. Her sound is a mixture of these urban styles with breaks and beats around sensual elegant melodies, dance Brazilian grooves, electronic effects and orchestral arrangements.

Gabi started her music career playing and singing with bands and soon was touring with names such as Tricky (performing in the Jools Holland Show, The American MTV fashion awards, festivals & concerts in the U.S.A, Europe and Israel), Five (European MTV Awards), Anne Clark (European Tour and Special featuring on one of Anne Clarks Single “Wallies” and “Sleeper in Metropolis”), The Lighthouse Family, Des’ree, Cathy Dennis (European tours & TV including Top Of The Pop’s), Mc’ Almont (British tour supporting Cindy Lauper, Royal Albert Hall, GLR Radio Live Session).

All this experiences inspired Gabi to produce her first solo work entitled Paint My Colours released in 2008. Her album had great reviews by MTV Brasil, The Rolling Stone Magazine, Vogue, amongst other medias. The video from "Paint My Colours" was extensevily played on MTV Brasil and her album in various national radios.

Her songs have been part of films and TV series sound track such as Latin American HBO series “Alice” and Brazilian films such as "A Mulher Invisivel" (Claudio Torres).

Whilst promoting Paint My Colours Gabi performed at Festivals such as ”Power To The Peaceful”next to international names Michael Frantti & Seu George, live on MTV and “Programa do Jo” Globo Brasil and performances in international fashion shows.

At present time Gabi is in the studio recording material for her next project Sunstrand, as well as working on a remix EP with various producers.
