"Gentle, dark, soothing and direct, this album has no weak spots."

Naor wrote the songs that became “Like the Tide” in London between 2005 and 2008. It sounds a bit like that, and that’s great news, Gentle, dark, soothing and direct, this album has no weak spots. The songs are moving, the arrangements excellent, Tailor’s voice and his guitar sound beautiful, and that lap steel, oh that lap steel..
Everything about this just works. At times it reminds me of Nick Drake, sometimes Grant Lee Buffalo, a bit of Jose Gonzales, you catch my drift. This album scores a direct hit on my favorite musical environment, and it strikes me with all the right notes. - Cover Story (ISR Blog)

"An acoustic gem that moves gently between the high and the low tides."

The image of anna pavlova, which graces the cover of Like the Tide, Sun Tailor’s debut album, is fragile and soft, She stands there hugging herself, reminding us of film noir starlets with an expression that speaks better the words. That same nostalgic fragility exists in this acoustic creation, where the gentle strumming of the guitar combined with Tailor’s whispering voice, creates an almost ghost like feeling.

It’s hard not to mention Nick Drake, whose influence is apparent throughout the record. Much like Drake’s work, Sun Tailor exudes a sense of home, his problems are not time or location specific, they aim for the air and hit all of us in process, which makes identifying with him all the more easy.
Tailor’s modest presentation, the soothing music, the sounds that make the ears sigh in front of all this acoustic bliss, all of these make the album stay somewhere in the body. Sun Tailor’s debut album is an acoustic gem that moves gently between the high and the low tides. - Music News (ISR online magazine)

"A very promising single from the debut album."

A very promising single from the debut album, Don't Knock on my Door has a jazzy feel to it, characterised with a warm and enveloping sound. This is something that you might hear one winter’s night in a small Brooklyn bar. - City Mouse (ISR print and online magazine)

"This for me is the definition of a perfect record."

This is one of those albums that’s hard to believe was made in Israel, and even more so in a small room converted to a studio.
You can hear London’s romantic grayness in these songs, Sun’s enveloping voice, the warm sound and moving lyrics create an album that enters the bloodstream and does not want to leave, this for me is the definition of a perfect record. - 4 CRYING OUT LOUD (ISR blog)

"This man sings like his life depends on it."

Sun Tailor doesn't sound like he’s grown up on british folk music from the sixties, it’s more like he's actually there right now.
It’s very easy to mention Nick Drake, John Martyn and a bit of Bon Iver if you want to characterize Sun Tailor’s music, but the real thing for us lies in his captivating performance, this man sings like his life depends on it. - Afarkest (ISR blog)

"Although these songs were written in London, Sun Tailor’s music resonates more with an alternative"

Although these songs were written in London, Sun Tailor’s music resonates more with an alternative country vibe. Acoustic bass, a howling lap steel guitar, glockenspiel and drum brushes, Daniel Lanois would be proud of this! - Time Out Tel Aviv

"Tailor possesses a voice and pitch that is both tender and remarkably forthright"

Tailor possesses a voice and pitch that is both tender and remarkably forthright. On the single “Don't Knock on my Door” hushed tones combine with candor, and on the opening track “Out of the Shelter” he tells his story while a string quartet builds tension. It’s astonishingly good, and reminds me of both David Ackles and early solo Peter Gabriel. - Leicester bangs (UK Blog)

Bio

Sun Tailor is the stage name of Israeli born indie folk singer songwriter Arnon Naor.

A member of the extended folk family of artists like Nick Drake, Bon Iver, Elliot Smith and Jose Gonzalez, his debut album Like the Tide was released in February 2012, receiving excellent reviews both in his native Israel, and in the UK where he began his music career.

After a successful acoustic tour in Europe during the winter of 2011, Sun Tailor is currently performing with his band around Israel, following the album release, and will be touring Europe this coming Fall.

The Album
After a five year stay in London, Naor returned home where he began work on Like the Tide.

The songs of the album were written in his London flat, and recorded mainly in his small Tel Aviv bedroom. Close to the city center, and by the sea.

The atmosphere in which these songs came to be, and how they were finally recorded, is fully captured on Like the Tide.

The songs are alive with soft intensity and intimacy, conveying winter imagery and flow, surrounded with a warm lush sound.
