Bio
The Band
Supawide was formed sometime ago in the mind of bassist /vocalist Dean Herber. Playing in other local bands at the time Dean set out to form a Power Trio that would open the eyes and ears of the masses. As time went on an old jamming buddy, guitarist Jason McCabe called upon Dean. Jason was at the time a part of a then semi- successful local band and they were in need of a bassist. Dean agreed and joined the band, which included drummer Matt Heckman. After a few months Dean, Jason, and Matt all wanted to take a different musical direction and thus formed Supawide.
The Songs
With fresh new ideas brewing the three went onto a long writing process and overtime honed there own defined sound. They created songs, which bring forth emotions ranging from rage and angst, to the lifestyle of the workingman. Dean began to write lyrics to tell the stories and embody these philosophies in their songs. From titles like “Atomic Age” and “Superior Inferior” which reflect on there outlook with the world today, to “Baby Blue” and “Whiskeybent and Hellbound” which show how the female gender can be loved and left. Other titles include “Between Heaven and Hell” which makes the listener aware that “livin’s not that easy”, and Aurora a song that explores the outer and innermost realms of the mind
The Sound
Supawide’s sound is derived from a tight, thick groove oriented rhythm section. Matt’s drum style is both heavy hitting a direct. Matt is the quintessential rock drummer keeping a lock down on the rhythm with bassist Dean. Deans bass playing is also solid and tight but with his bass fills and runs he can keep the song flowing while Jason continues to add the next layer. Jason’s guitar playing fills in the rhythm with the same dirty low ends, but he cleans it up and keeps you guessing with his ethereal and passionate solo work. The three elements combined make for a “Wall of Sound” that envelopes the mind in emotion. Their stage show and presence add to the Rock And Roll fire with high energy coming straight at you like a bullet.
The Goal
The innermost Core Purpose of the band is to be a part of the lives of many. To have such an impact and become an influence to future generations as the forefathers of rock were to them. To Supawide it’s all about the music and being true to not only themselves but to the fans. To do what they want and play what they want in this industry of image and popularity contests. Because it’s not about that for us it’s about being real and playing real music living breathing and sleeping it. So keep your eyes and ears open for Supawide will be in a town near you soon.
