Have Sydney duo Supergenius scored an Australian first with their debut EP "Mr. Tree"? We think it's the first indie digital-only release, but will stand corrected. Supergenius is based around Amba Shepherd and Romesh Sathia. "Mr Tree" is available on their site and on, a new site that allows independent artists to sell digital downloads of their albums without giving away all the profit to middlemen. The EP is being played on 25 regional radio stations, Shepherd says.

The Title Track MR TREE is a song about searching, looking for guidance & finding your way. It's about making the mistake of looking up to the wrong person and realising that the only guidance you need is your intuition.

Feeling a bit camera shy

Supergenius launches its debut DIGITAL EP entitled MR TREE.

Singer/Songwriter Amba Shepherd has been at the forefront of Australian urban pop culture (music, performance & fashion) for over 10yrs. Her background in theatre & performance has seen her appear in rock musicals such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Carols In the Domain, The Breakfast Club, The Wiz, and many TV/radio commercials and recordings. She has studied piano, voice & percussion at VCA, Sydney Conservatorium of Music and AFTRS. Since 2002 she has been in partnership with her sister Camilla, overseeing graphic design for tshirt label Fru Fru. The label made its debut at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week in 2004. For the Supergenius MR TREE digital EP project Amba blends all of her talents in a unique and successful combination.

Collaborator Ramesh Sathiah is Creative Director at SongZu Sydney. After studying music composition at Southern Cross university he became a key member of Sydney band Renegade Funktrain. He now works with several leading Australian pop acts as engineer/producer.
