Superhero Smith came together when Brian Frommer, Mark Hunt, and Judson Levere, all songwriters and performers in their own right, decided to join forces. Shortly thereafter, Doug Clarke joined as drummer, and the group has been writing, rehearsing, recording and gigging ever since.
Their sound is an eclectic mix of various rock genres, but you might expect this from a group that has three songwriters, each with his own set of influences. A small sample of them would include Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, INXS, The Who, The Band, Wilco, Neil Young, Avenged Sevenfold, Blue Rodeo, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Tragically Hip.
In spite of--or perhaps because of--these influences, writing new music is what keeps this band going. They are currently working on their second full-length album of original music. "Superhero Smith Volume II - Bicycle Thieves" is currently scheduled for a May 2011 release.
