Dominic Lamarre’s (SUPERMASSIVE QUAzAR) large cd is wild with an even wilder message. With a whopping 14-song collection there’s something for everyone. “Messed Up”, for example, the first track, is an anthem for the power and glory of the never ending gender war; a very fun song. Then, a couple songs deeper, “Lulliloo (On the Radio)” is a melodic treat to thrill the senses. And just when we’ve caught our breath here comes the super cool road song called “Billy Goes to Popvile”, which plays out like an epic, modern day, punk, Irish, super fun, bar band ditty!

SUPERMASSIVE QUAzAR
Montreal, Canada – SUPERMASSIVE QUAzAR (SQ) is literally a one-man musical army led by Dominic Lamarre, who recorded more than 250 songs prior to his 33th birthday. His love for music spans many styles and genres, from Pop to Rock to Instrumentals and Orchestral. He started playing guitar in 1994, formed the now-dead band HAPPIER THAN YOU in 1997, until he built his home studio in 2007, where he voraciously started recording an amazing amount of songs, some of which became part of his first album, 2008’s PULzE. The album is a powerful blend of Rock and Pop, with clever lyrics and also possesses a keen sense of melody.
His influences have included Nirvana, QOTSA, Opeth, Smashing Pumpkins, The Beatles and lesser-known greats like sElf, Akira Yamaoka, and …Trail of Dead, as well as many classical composers. Similar to his varying interests, SQ provides a vast array of sound, texture, and melodies that create two unique, distinct and addictive styles.
First, SUPERMASSIVE QUAzAR is a band rooted in Rock, with songs that provide a powerful yet melodic vocal line, catchy guitar hooks, and pounding drums, like “The X”, as well as cool songs like “You Look Good In That Dress” and “Trapped” that are gloriously catchy and immensely contagious.
Second, Dominic Lamarre Music (Music Publishing) is usually more pop-oriented, with songs like “Tattooed” which provides an amazing example of his acoustic sound and catchy melodies, while songs like “Getting Directions” and “Sex Machine (ft. Paula de Oliveira)” offer pure rock and pop delight. It’s also the core of many instrumental songs, including favorites like “The Void”, “Wraspberry Dreams” and “If You Read This, It Means I’m Already Dead...”.
SQ is also involved in many International recording collaborations, including the ambitious « International Project », alongside many amazing artists from over the world.
