"Wannabee Rockstar who finally Found The ROCK Press release"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New Book by Texas Hard Rock Drummer Tells a Story of Trial, Faith and Triumph
DALLAS, TX - December 1, 2012 — James Michael McLester, acclaimed Texas drummer, of SuperNova Remnant, has written a tell-all book, in which he shares the despair, triumphs and victories of his rock 'n' roll fantasy.
Wannabee Rock Star Who Finally Found the Rock tells the story of how a spiritually bankrupt musician, frustrated by near success, numbed by the effects of drugs and alcohol, and alienated from his family, finds love and redemption after many years of running in the shadows of the Dallas-Fort Worth hard rock music scene, beginning in the early 80s and continuing into the new millennium. Readers will get a behind-the-scenes peek into the life of an aspiring rock star, as McLester plays in such bands as Dirty Blonde, The Crossing and Solinger (sharing the stage with current Skid Row lead vocalist Johnny Solinger). Read as McLester’s bands open on some of the area’s biggest stages for such rock legends as Alice Cooper, Tesla, Cinderella, Vince Neil, Pantera and Scorpions. But a hard-rock lifestyle takes McLester on a wild journey that leaves him disillusioned and nearly dead.
Wannabee Rock Star Who Finally Found the Rock penetrates the heart, as readers follow this talented young drummer with a calling on his life—a life catapulted into a quest for restoration of health, music, family and faith by what can only be understood as God’s just-in-time, supernatural intervention, saving McLester from a tragic end.
Believers and nonbelievers alike will be inspired by the manifestation of hope that sustains McLester during his near-death experience and beyond, as he fights back against his disease, buoyed by God’s promise. The book relates how this same hope continues to propel McLester forward toward a cure and a newfound success with SuperNova Remnant, including 2012 tour dates with mega-platinum Christian rock band Stryper at House of Blues and the forthcoming release of the band’s new album, Rockets Red Glare. Most important, readers will discover the grace, available for all, which transforms this rising rock star from a talented but troubled musician into a wise man of solid faith and an appreciation for life, sanity and health.
“I want to encourage kids, youth, young adults, parents and grandparents that nothing is impossible with God,” says McLester. “You know, all the years, all the tears, all the heartaches, all the victories—it really comes down to one thing: that our lives can be used as an example to shine a light into somebody else’s life—into their darkness. That’s why I wrote this book.”
Wannabee Rock Star Who Finally Found the Rock is due to be released in mid-December 2012, and will initially be available online through Amazon.com and through the author’s website, www.jmclester.com, followed by a planned expansion into bookstores.

ABOUT JAMES MCLESTER
James Michael McLester is the drummer for SuperNova Remnant, creator of Hearts on Fire, co-founder of Living Out Loud and a member of the Christian Drummers Hall of Fame. James has a passion for reaching the lost and sharing his testimony. James’ love for music has grown into a powerful outreach and witness.
Described as a “powerful force” by DJ Drue Mitchell (JCTV/Manafest) and as having ”reached the pinnacle of his dream to be a rock star” by pastor Bill Bishop, James McLester is the embodiment of what can happen when persistence, hope and faith combine to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
Former fellow Solinger band member Johnny Solinger, now lead vocalist for Skid Row, said of James, “Jamie is a superb drummer, but he also wrote meaningful lyrics and contributed greatly with melodies and structure to many of Solinger's tunes." Dawn Henderson, 89.7 PowerFM program director, writes that “James McLester is one of the most passionate people I know in the music industry. He is definitely a force to be reckoned with. His mind is clearly focused and his heart is God-centered."

SuperNova Remnant
Rock Worship- High Energy

Supernova Remnant is a Worship Rock Band from Dallas, Texas birthed in 2003 by Robbie Gustin (Lead Vocals/Guitar) and James McLester (Drums/Vocals).
Gustin and McLester both lived the Rock ‘n Roll lifestyle to the max for over 15 years. They met as music fans in junior high. Eventually after years of touring and partying, Gustin and McLester both had near death experiences. In 2001 Gustin bled a gallon of blood after being up 4 days straight on a "methamphetamine" binge and later flat lined. McLester was rushed to Presbyterian Hospital in 2003 with level 5 kidney failure and drowning in 30 pounds of excess fluid that crushed his heart and kept him from seeing and breathing.

These life crises brought them to a face to face encounter with God. They realized that the fires of their past would somehow resonate with a lost generation. They committed to use their musical and creative talents for God's Kingdom. Supernova Remnant started as a two piece and graduated to a three piece, including temporary bassist Kevin Daughtery of Go Deep and later James Putnam of Dove Award nominees By The Tree.

After two years of lineup changes, Supernova Remnant has continued the search for the right bassist to complete its lineup. In this process, Supernova Remnant performed at FBCB in 2007 and needed a fill-in bassist at the last minute, so a mutual friend of SNR suggested bassist Chris Thomas from Boyd, Texas. Thomas was a "one night" addition just to help out, and it turned out Thomas would play a very significant role in helping SNR find the right bassist for their three piece sound. During this time, Gustin had pursued a very gifted worship leader from Shreveport, LA Perry Thompson and talented bassist Daniel Miller. Thompson and Miller both relocated to Texas and played on some of the studio tracks from the forth coming "Worship & Warfare" EP.

In addition, Supernova Remnant performed at Maximedia soundstage as a four piece and opened for Tooth & Nail recording artist Children 18:3 at The Door in Dallas, TX.

The band reached a crescendo while working for Clear Summer Camps in summer 2008 and leading hundreds of church leaders and children into worship alongside worship leader Alysce. Within weeks of Clear Camp, Supernova Remnant changed its line up due to "life issues", and Thompson and Miller relocated back to Louisiana and now are working steadily in venues and churches.

Supernova Remnant next journeyed to Nashville, TN on April 20-23 for the Gospel Music Awards and Dove Awards at The Grand Ole Opry. Supernova Remnant was accompanied by Power FM 89.7 Dallas, TX Music Director DJ Drue Mitchell to network with music industry insiders and present their new material in person. While at the GMA's, they met Sammie Palermo, president of Heirchex Digital Music, and he has assisted Supernova Remnant in getting its music and message out to the DJ's around the world.

Fall 2008, Supernova Remnant was booked back to back for two youth nights, FBCB and The Cross, and had no permanent bassist. The band prayed to fulfill its engagements. Thomas was contacted about playing bass but had a gig that weekend. He promised to call someone he knew in Boyd, TX and found John Reed, a gifted 18 year old bassist and musician.

John Reed demonstrated on short notice that he could rock and fill the big low end duties needed to round out the Supernova Remnant “sound.” John Reed had extensive musical training in band and is studying music at Brookhaven College in Dallas, TX. McLester was simultaneously learning beginner piano and music composition to improve songwriting skills at TCC in NRH, TX while Gustin was honing his vocal abilities working with Septien vocal group and networking at Guitar Center Platinum Room in Dallas, TX.

After a few live shows and Power FM 89.7 interview for Spin 180 Indie Radio, John Reed felt convicted to tell the band he would not be able to carry on with Supernova Remnant. James decided to call Chris Thomas again to see his current status. Chris was open to play a show with Supernova Remnant for Maximedia in Dallas, TX, and the three piece unit found another "gear.” Since that successful night at Maximedia, Chris has been involved in writing and rehearsing for the release of "Worship & Warfare" in 2009. November 4th 2009 was slated as a release date to coordinate with Stryper's 25th anniversary tour at The House of Blues in Dallas, TX. Supernova Remnant plans to play to a captive Dallas, TX audience that evening in downtown Dallas.

Supernova Remnant had found its key musician - someone technically sound and seriously committed to the vision of SuperNova Remnant.

Chris Thomas' electric bass work and piano playing skills offers a myriad of sounds and tones to balance the thundering rhythms of McLester's (Texas Drum Tornado Hall of Fame) drumming and Gustin’s soaring lead vocals and overdrive guitar work.

The buzz is out around
