"superpussy unearthed"

rating: 4/5

Once again, I'm sure the words "pummel", "Gargantuan" and "juggernaut" have been used before. And they will again, probably in relation to your music. It's great to hear loud, tough music that doesn't sound in any way angsty. I haven't seen a picture, but I imagine you gents have substantial-sized necks.

Song: Mouthful Of Pigs
rating: 4/5

So, I hear you gentlemen are fans of riffs. Of licks. Repeated guitar, bass and drum patterns, if you will. Well done. Sounds awesome. Those guitars sound like they are hurting. You should hurt them more.

"Album Review"

This is intense bludgeoning punk rock that states its aggressive but simple case with maximum impact and minimum bullshit.
Wollongong three piece Superpussy take their cues from noisy bastards like Shellac, The Jesus Lizard and Rapeman, while maintaining a local flavour with a sound that’s part Mark of Cain, part Cosmic Psychos and part Feedtime.
It’s all wrapped around a skull-crushingly unhinged core of Birthday Party-styled mayhem, thanks in large part to the jarring studio work of Tony Cohen. Dirty, sludgy, shouty and as uncomfortable as finding out the girl you just pashed was your long lost sister.

"Album Review"

Wollongong is never short of full-throttle punk rock. Be it Riffter, HyTest, Monstrous Blues or the near-legendary Thumlock, the Gong has always had its fair-share of MC5-obssessed rock outfits. You can now add Superpussy to the ever-growing list. Formed from the ashes of Full Tab & Boner , they churn out some piss-off-your-neighbours, balls-to-the-wall, obnoxious-as-all-fuck, punk-farkin-rawk!
Eight tracks recorded by Tony Cohen (Beasts of Bourbon, Nick Cave, Dirty Three, etc…) and flying the flags of Stooges, MC5, Black Flag, Massappeal, Saints, et al.
The bass rumbles like the militaristic Mark of Cain, while the gang vocals add an almost indistinguishable Wollongong flavour. Overall it’s a promising recording for a band making scenes in local venues up and down the east coast of Australia.

Bio

After several months of experimentation in 2004, Superpussy was formed in Jan 2005 from members of "Fulltab" & "Boner" (NZ).
Influenced by bands such as The Jesus Lizard, The Birthday Party, NoMeansNo, Motorhead and Shellac, Superpussy bring a distinctly Australian feel to these genres.
Hailing from the northern suburbs of the Illawarra (Australia), Superpussy have been travelling and playing regularly up and down Australia's east coast for the past couple of years.
Their CD demo was released in 2005 as a 3 track ep which became one of the top ten sellers at Music Farmers in 2005.
The band went to Adelaide in March 2006, where they recorded an album at Mixmasters Studios. Mixed by Tony Cohen (Birthday Party, Nick Cave, Beasts of Bourbon), the album was released in Feb 2007 on Trans Electric Records and is distributed in the U.S. through Misc. Music (Austin, TX) and in Eurpoe through Undertow Recordings (Netherlands).
Superpussy continue to gig live and are currently writing with a view to getting back in the studio in early 2008 with an east coast (Aust.) tour to follow.
