Bio

Enthusiasm is contagious and that's why songwriters with a genuine, obvious passion for their craft can't help but attract an audience. As the driving force of Super Tone, singer / songwriter Brian McConnell has earned a legion of devoted fans in and around his adopted hometown of Los Angeles and throughout the US. His creative songwriting and warm stage presence establish him as a formidable musical force, and the smoky swagger of his voice at once evokes Rob Thomas, Bruce Springsteen, and Kid Rock.

Legendary Doors guitarist Robby Krieger discovered McConnell in Los Angeles. “Robby mentored and guided me through the L.A. club scene“ says McConnell. Krieger joined McConnell on stage at sold out performances such as “The Roxy Theatre”, “The Key Club”, “The Viper Room”, and the House of Blues on Hollywood’s famed Sunset Strip. More recently, Robby joined Super Tone in the studio to record guitar tracks on the infectious anthem “Hollywood 911” which McConnell wrote when he first moved to Los Angeles. The single has gained national attention among fans throughout the US and Canada despite the lack of major radio airplay.

In March 2002, McConnell performed at a Grammy benefit honoring Billy Joel for Music Cares. The evening culminated when McConnell joined Garth Brooks to perform Billy Joel’s hit “Goodnight Saigon”, resulting in the nights only standing ovation. Other artists to perform that evening were, Bon Jovi, Stevie Wonder, Matchbox 20, Don Henley Tony Bennet, Melissa Ethridge, and Diana Krall.

In 2007 McConnell played a significant role in the reunion of Van Halen. McConnell spent 8 years as personal assistant to Van Halen front man David Lee Roth. “Dave taught me many valuable lessons about the music business over the years which I now can apply to my own career, both personally and professionally.”
