Super Wild Horses

SUPER WILD HORSES are Melbourne duo Amy Franz and Hayley McKee. Formed in 2009, the pair switch between guitar, drums and keyboard and play taut, minimal and decidedly garage based pop music that relies heavily on dual harmonies over sparse arrangements.

With one sold-out EP and a handful of 7”s to their name, they released their assured debut album Fifteen in mid-2010. Characterised by a chunky guitar/drum wallop and ripe vocal melodies, Fifteen was named album of the week by Australian community radio stations Triple R, FBi and RTR and was picked up for release in the US by respected Chicago label HoZac Records.

Recorded with Eddy Current Suppression Ring's Mikey Young, Fifteen is a heady concoction of hits, from the softly-crushing, sunny pop tracks that seduce and mesmerize on contact, to the impossibly catchy, noise-laden numbers that channel the gals’ choppy expertise of stripped-down tension and texture.

Following the release of Fifteen, SUPER WILD HORSES hit the USA in September 2010 for a tour that included a slot at the venerable Goner Fest in Memphis Tennessee. Back home, their on stage energy has made live favourites, and they’ve played across the country with the likes of Best Coast, Foo Fighters, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, The Drones, Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall. They played the 2011 Big Day Out and had a song featured on a Bonds underwear TV commercial.

The girls are currently writing / demoing songs for their upcoming 2nd album. Due late 2012.
