Sur Fresh

Sur Fresh is an international rapper and song-writer who was born and still currently resides in New York City. From his early childhood Sur Fresh wanted to be more than just a performer, he wanted to be an all out superstar. His mother often played classic music from the 80’s from artist such as Big Daddy Kane and Run DMC. It was at a young age he knew somehow that music would be his career path. ” Music is art and I love art and sound” says Sur Fresh.

Teaming up with some old school classmates, Sur Fresh formed the group ‘Retro Kidz’ an 80’s style, electic movement. An influencial movement, that caught the eye of many industry noteables. Their big break came when one of dance music most successful producers, Armand Van Helden offered to produce the group’s debut single ‘New Era’. The song gathered much attention from the New York radio stations starting with the legendary DJ Funkmaster Flex. This resulted in more media recognition from outlets such as Vibe, XXL, URB, Warp, IQ, AllHipHop.com, Hip-Hop Weekly, YO! MTV and BET. They even attracted attention from P Diddy. He went on to invite them as guests and performers at his mansion party.

And so, as they still work on group projects, Sur Fresh has taken some time to focus on his first solo project. Sur Fresh is working on his firs solo EP Titled “No Expiration Date”.

As a musician, Sur Fresh aspires for his music to have substance and would like to be taken seriously as an artist, not just a socialite. He views his music as a emancipation from an enduring struggle to a victorious success. “My music conveys a message of not being afraid to step out the box and do different things” says Sur Fresh.

He gives credence to great legends such as Will Smith, Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest, Slick Rick, De La Soul, Kanye West, Jay Z, Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Fabolous and the list goes on. His project is set to be released this fall. Keep an eye out!
