It’s that time of year — Main in Motion kicked off Thursday evening in great fashion with nearly 10 live music venues, great food, children’s activities and sunshine.
The first event of the summer featured a special troubadour performance as six local musicians showcased their original work in a friendly competition. Susan Walton was chosen by a panel of judges as the winner of the competition. As a result, she took home $200 in Montrose Area Merchants Association bucks and an opportunity to preform on the main stage at the the upcoming Montrose Music Festival on July 14. Second place went to Doug Kolz, who earned $100 in MAMA bucks. Rounding out the top three was Dave Werden, who earned $50 in MAMA bucks.
According to one of the the event coordinators, Krista Montalvo, music is an important part of bringing the community together for Main in Motion.
“I love this competition because you get to hear voices you normally don’t get to hear right here in town,” Montalvo said.
