""Waitin' for the Wind" CD Review"

On this, her second album, Albuquerque's Susan Clark displays an incredibly strong talent as a singer and as a songwriter.

Clark's voice has good range and its sound exudes a warmth that is magnetic. Her reality-based songwriting touches on diverse subjects that should appeal to many audiences.

For example, on "Madeline," Clark sings in a humorous folksy sytle about a rat terrier her family had for seven years: "Her nails are long and her breath is bad/How'd I ever get a dog like that?"

On "Whatever Happed To," a disappointed Clark observes how people change: "I miss those days when friends would just stop by/Without calling first or having a reason why."

And on the title cut, a song of self-examination, Clark quietly sings of issues many can relate to: "I'm a ship too long at harbor?I keep on waitin' for the wind..."

On the CD Clark shows her versatility on guitar, keyboards, accordion and flute. You can also hear some of New Mexico's finest musicians.

The album is availabe for purchase on

2008 will find Susan working on a project of inspirational/new thought tunes that she's been working on over the last couple of years.

To call Susan Clark “multifaceted” just doesn’t do her justice. That’s
because, though she IS talented in so many areas, that term doesn’t
explain just how beautifully she writes, how well she plays piano,
guitar and flute, how alluring her voice can be, how quickly audiences
connect with her in a live setting or the amazing joy she inspires in
her work with Alzheimer and dementia patients. Yes, multifaceted, but
also, so much more.

Susan was named a finalist in Kerrville’s New Folk
Concert Series in 1991, 1993 and 1995. Then in 1998 the Kerrville judges
awarded her first place. Among the prizes was the opportunity to perform
on Kerrville’s main stage in 1999 before thousands of the country’s
biggest folk followers.

2006 found Susan once again included in the Kerrville New Folk Finalists!

Take Me Home, Susan’s 1999 release, lead to numerous awards that once
again proved her versatility. Along with being selected to showcase her
songs fo the National Folk Alliance, she was also won first place awards
from New Mexico’s premier music competition (NM Mic Line Awards) for
Best Jazz Production, Best Blues Production, Best Adult Contemporary
Production and Best Vocal Performance. Covering so many styles, it’s
easy to see why so many of Take Me Home’s songs are covered by other New
Mexican musicians

A new CD of original compositions "Waitin' for the Wind, has just been released and is available for purchase through cdbaby:

"Waitin' for the Wind" just won three top awards from the New Mexico Music Association. One for the best song of the year; "Meet me in New Orleans"; one for best production of the year and finally, it was took the honors for the Best CD released in 2006 in New Mexico!!!

Two of Susan's songs were just selected by the NM Music Commission for a video production through the NM Dept. of Tourism. The video can be viewed on youtube:

Once again this accomplished songwriter,
vocalist and musician is proving that sometimes the designation of
“multifaceted” might just not say enough about this woman’s talents.
