Bio

Susannah Masarie was born and raised in Greensboro, NC. She spent her summers growing up in Brevard, NC while her parents were working at the Brevard Music Center. Her parents are both professional musicians and she grew up listening to them play classical music, operas, and musicals. When Susannah was between the ages of five and twelve she had small singing parts in several operas and musicals. She took piano lessons while growing up which taught her how to read music. She began taking guitar lessons when she was twelve and mandolin lessons when she was eighteen. She began writing her own music when she was in high school. Susannah went to college at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, where she lived for four years. While living in Boone playing music with her friend Ben Smith had a big influence on her. Ben is a singer, songwriter, and plays guitar and bass. Regular jams in Ben's basement gave her the opportunity to play with other local musicians. She currently lives in Sandy Springs, Ga. Susannah released a cd of her original music in 2009. In addition to playing her original music, Susannah plays a lot of traditional music including blues, bluegrass, gospel, folk, and more. Susannah has performed in a variety of venues in the Atlanta area including: Java Monkey, The Star Bar, The Moon Shadow Tavern, The Five Spot, and Eyedrum. She has also played in several places in North Georgia and in North Carolina including: The Copper Pot, Sugar Mill Creek RV Resort, Ziggy's, and Canyons.
