Suzanne Rhatigan

BandAlternativeSinger/Songwriter

Suzanne Rhatigan is once again writing and producing unique music enhanced by her wide experience in every area of contemporary music. Influenced by great writers and artists across the spectrum from Aretha Franklyn to Guided By Voices, she has been described as a cross between Iggy Pop and Rita Hayworth. “Rhatigan's sharp little vignettes will swoop and growl their way into your bones” Time Out magazine.

Biography

Though only 18 years old Suzanne Rhatigan's career started as a studio session singer in Dublin working on many records and adverts before moving to London, where she was a regular singer for producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman and many others (see discography).

Suzanne developed as a writer during this time and was signed by publishers Peer Music. As a result Suzanne was signed to New York based Imago Records who released her 1st album 'To Hell With Love' which was widely distributed and promoted in Europe and America by BMG/RCA. But it was on her return to the Uk that Suzanne teamed up with bass player
John Morrison to form a prolific song writing team. This
partnership marked a change of direction in her music, and
garnered widespread critical acclaim for her 2nd album 'Late
Developer'. Suzanne has never been afraid to take chances
with her music, sonically, lyrically and in performance, but it is
the song and her unmistakeable voice which remains at it's
heart.

With a sample of some previously unreleased material available on myspace and some solo recordings on the way Suzanne is at last venturing back onto the live stage

Comedy Man

Written By: Suzanne Rhatigan

Feeling really tired this evening
For God's sake give me a reason
To simply continue breathing
All day I wanted to cry
Somebody make me smile before I die

Come on come on come on come on comedy man
Come on come on come on make me laugh
Come on come on come on comedy man
Come on come on come come on make me laugh

Like you used to
I put my faith in you
to pull my spirit through

I'm not joking
I need a puntastic potion
So put your funny muscle in motion
And lather me in laughter lotion
Just enough to fill up the cracks
Really feels as if I've had
A humour bypass

Come on come on come on come on comedy man

Before it's too late
I've got no time to waste
It's a matter of life and death
So before I'm laid to rest
Get the timing right
Give me the punch line

Come on come on come on come on comedy man

This could be your very last chance
So do what you can...

Days With A Y

Written By: Suzanne Rhatigan

We won't forget you on days with a Y
We won't regret you a single time
We won't forget you and here's why

There you go again, running late, grabbing a chat at the school gate, so much we want to say before you go away, leaving us up to our necks in it, well thanks for that bitch, you're making the great escape,
just don't expect us to celebrate

We won't forget you on days with a Y
We won't regret you a single time
We won't forget you and here's why

Who will we talk about when you're not around
Whose constant misfortune has no bounds
Whose cheerful demeanour, belies an interior, held together, with sticky back plastic and bit's of elastic, you're fan-bloody-tastic, at not much
Just like us

We won't forget you on days with a Y
We won't regret you a single time
We won't forget you and here's why

So you're heading down under, and we hope it'll be wonderful,
I don't want to sound cynical, you think it rains here take a look at the news dear, down there it's biblical, you'll need that swim cert just to get a loaf, no joke, oh no, that sod Murphy travels too, and he's going with you

We won't forget you on days with a Y
We won't regret you a single time
We won't forget you and here's why

Life has a way of just working out, one minute something to give out about, the next something to shout about, it's swings and it's roundabouts, it's top ten then it knocks you out, but you're the bouncing back kind, the best when you're back's to the wall kind, the good kind, the go on give it a try kind,
The unforgettable kind

We won't forget you
We won't regret you
We won't forget you
On days with a Y

Goodbye

Written By: Suzanne Rhatigan

Nothing happening here
It has finally become clear
We’ve run out of things to say
And ways to say it

No exaggeration
To sum up the situation
We’ve no future no way forward no explanation

Nothing left to play for but time
Nothing left to say but goodbye
Goodbye

No continuation of relations thus far engaged in
No stroppy exits bad scenes
No grand standing

No last ditch manoeuvres
Pleas to reconcile are fruitless
No rehash no cash back on approval

Nothing left to think but
Why
Nothing left to say but goodbye
Goodbye

No useless excuses
No convoluted resolutions
No restitution
No prize
We just weren’t destined to weather
The stormy forever
No extenuating circumstance apply

Goodbye

Lick

Written By: Suzanne Rhatigan

So here we are
We’ve had our brandy and cigars
But still I’m hungry for more
I’d like to eat you to the core

I want to lick you all over all over
So come a bit closer
Take all your clothes off
Let me have my way
I want to lick you all over all over
Then take what’s left
And lick it….

Now I know I’m right
Be my angel delight
Let me whip you into life
Only you can quell my appetite

I want to lick you all over all over
So come a bit closer
Take all your clothes off
Let me have my way
I want to lick you all over all over
Then take what’s left
And lick it….

Hey hey hey
In the cold light of day
I can guarantee you’ll wake
With a big smile on your face

I want to lick you all over all over
So come a bit closer
Take all your clothes off
Let me have my way
I want to lick you all over all over
Then take what’s left
And lick it….

Open

Written By: Suzanne Rhatigan

I wake the same time every day
And lie quite still
Flush with the feeling
Anything could happen
And more than probably will

I try to savour the simple things
Inhale the scent of sleep
Make love in the half light of a rainy morning
Before my cup of tea
Or after if you please

I'm open persuade me I'm willing to learn
I'm hopeful our romance will blossom and bloom
I've sensed that our moment has finally come
I'm ready to love you what more do you want

In the evening we'll raise a glass
Because we tried
We made it through the tortures of ever falling fortunes
And kept our hope alive
I hope we survive

I'm open persuade me I'm willing to learn
I'm hopeful our romance won't crash till it burns
I've sensed that our moment has finally come
I'm ready to love you what more do you want
