Suzi More is not only a composer of children's songs and lyrical ballads, but an educator of pop and jazz vocalists. A classically trained vocal artist, her recital work and language studies readied her to perform on the operatic stage.

college courses in the Jazz Music Department at Livingston College, Rutgers University, led her to work with an array of brilliant artists including Kenny Barron (piano), Mike Ridley (Jazz Ensemble) as well as a visiting Professor, Jimmy Giuffre (counterpoint). A love of Jazz harmonies and progressions was further developed in several years of Jazz Piano with Duke Anderson who had been friend and student of Art Tatum. Duke had been the music of Looney Tunes Cartoons, noted for his rapid technique and style, to this day difficult to emulate. She also knew the artistry of Ella Fitzgerald, Cleo Lane, Ertha Kitt and Billy Holiday, and if you listen carefully, she might just sound like them. Each song is a different style and More's keen sense of folk and blues combined with vocal agility bring an unusual musical experience. In the first song, "Keep on Lovin You", the style of '60s soft rock seems to evoke the sound of Petula Clark. The second and fourth songs, "No Reason" and "Drop Dead" are definitely the Blues. "Don't Start" is a smooth, jazzy ballad. "A Song for You" brings back the memories of a friend you'll never forget. A surging beat and spinning chorus of "Shine" has a wonderful hook. "Silence" is an emotionally-packed Spanish/English song with great Latin Percussion. The last three songs, originally penned "Three Songs of the Sea" are "Blue", "When" and "Vessel" and tell a story of waiting and longing and return.

Silence (Callado)

Written By: Suzi More

Callado, todo es callado,
en la noche, yo lo no quiero
Ah, nada, yo lo siento nada
levante los manos avrar sarte
O, cielo, che lo cielo
che hermos so se a no me importa
ah nada, nada che importa
lo unico silencio.
Silence, all I hear is silence,
through the night such silence,
I can hardly bear.
Oh nothing, all I feel is nothing
raise my arms to hold you
and find you aren't there.
Oh moonlight, such a lovely moonlight
How it glows and shimmers,
I really don't care,
For nothing, nothing really matters
all I know is silence when you aren't there.

Drop Dead

Written By: Suzi More

you did think of all the tears I cried when you left,
you didn't think of all the years I'd given you my best,
you loved me and you left me cryin almost felt like I was dyin, now you think I'll take you back, dear you've run right your track. I'm doin fine and I don't want you back. So you should "Just Drop Dead. Did you hear what I said? you should fall off a cliff and maybe land on your head, and when they finally see you, you'll be bloody and red, yes you should just drop dead."
you thought that you could fool around, yes that's what you thought, that you could sneak around the town and you would not get caught. You thought so many stupid thoughts, I gave up wonderin what you thought. you might have thought you had a brain. If that's a brain, then what a shame. You paid the price and nothin's what youbought.
So you should just drop dead, did you hear what I said, you could jump from an airplance with a backpack instead and when they finally see you in that tree where you bled, they'll say you just dropped dead.
you said you needed time to think, you said you needed space, you said that someone else might come and take you're stupid place. Since you've been gone and carryin on I looked around and found someone and now you see the dumb thing that you've done. So you should just drop dead, did you hear what I said, when the girl that you're with catches you in her bed with some valentine panites and her wig on your head, you'll wish you'd just drop dead.
