"Off The Hook REVIEW"

This wonderfully impressive album mixes modern rock with a touch of old school influences. The soulful guitar solos along with the steady rhythm of the drums highlight this fact. The keyboard and saxophone offer a distinctive sound that really sets the band apart from other types of rock bands. The vocals take us back to the days of when rock music was able to really move and influence its audience. The band’s sound can be likened to that of Soundgarden mixed with Velvet Revolver. - Briana Ward of Bryan Farrish Radio Promotion

"Beg REVIEW"

This fantastic track features unique guitar rifts and strong drumbeats. This song will make listeners want to strum along on their imaginary air guitars. The guitars and drums work together to form a cohesive sound. The ending of this song is highlighted with a powerful finale, where the instruments come together to create a definitive rock n’ roll ending. This is the type of track that I would love to play on Guitar Hero over and over again. - Briana Ward of Bryan Farrish Radio Promotion

"A Long Time Comin' REVIEW"

A great song featuring a neat variety of instrumentation, including a fun intro by the saxophone. The vocals present an amazing blend. The lead vocals include a very contemporary rock sound, which can be likened to that of Anthony Kiedis. However, in the chorus, where there is a mix of different vocalists, there is a more mature rock sound. These elements work perfectly in conjunction with one another. The instruments have moments of great volume and energy, but they can also soften to let the vocals shine through. - Briana Ward of Bryan Farrish Radio Promotion

Bio

SwampDonky 2nd release, “Off The Hook,” features seven new originals, following up where the band left off with their debut 4-song EP, “All Over The Map." The band’s signature track from their debut EP, “What Is Mine,” was awarded Track of the Day honors at GarageBand.com.

In 2007, SwampDonky advanced to the San Francisco finals (following three elimination rounds) in the Emergenza battle of the bands competition (www.emergenza.net), held at the Great American Music Hall. SwampDonky’s performance was well-received by the judges as the band placed in the top 4 (out of 23 bands) overall, and drummer Joel was awarded “best drummer” in the competition.

SwampDonky is a fan-favorite on the Bay Area music scene, appearing at several venues including the Great American Music Hall, 12 Galaxies, Rockit Room, Grant & Green, Beale Street Bar, Fat City, Blakes on Telegraph, the Time Out, and Rooster’s Roadhouse.

On stage, lead vocalist and drummer Joel Anderson always impresses audiences with his power, precision, and classic rock voice. Tommy Huxley is a blues-influenced lead guitarist with chops (think SRV meets Slash). Ryan Lorenzini’s rhythm guitar parts add color to the sound and complement Tommy’s leads. Tony Las Vegas locks it all down on the bass. Both Ryan and Tony sing backup, and many of the band’s songs feature 2 and 3-part vocal harmonies. Many songs also feature the baritone saxophone performed by frequent guest musician, Kevin Brunetti.
