SWAY

 Westland, Michigan, USA
BandRockPop

Catchy hooks and well delivered melodies will have you bobbing your head for days after hearing these guys. Deriving from influences across almost all genres of music, SWAY is a band that you might not have heard of, but won't be able to stop listening to.

Biography

Why fix it if it's not broken? That's the conclusion the five members of SWAY came to when they decided to brainstorm new material for their second album. After receiving favorable reviews from their first cd, the guys decided to stick to the formula that made their first album a success: MAKE GOOD MUSIC THAT EMPHASIZES THE BAND'S UNIQUE VOCALS AND CAPTIVATING LYRICS. So what makes these guys different from every other undiscovered band out there? "Versatility in the music," Tim Stolkey (vocals, guitar, keys) says. "Variety is what makes us appeal to such a large group of people. We don't just have one sound." And it seems to be working. Their sophomore release entitled "Moments Of Bliss" was released on February of 2008 and has already sold more copies than its predecessor, while the album's first single "Two Candles" is receiving airplay on 106.5 The Zone in Toledo, OH and Detroit's 89X.

Performing together since 2003, the band has made their way around the metro Detroit area and SWAY has already become a household name in Ann Arbor. For the immediate future the task is clear: it's time to take the music to the fans outside of Southeast Michigan. A few local shows in the spring followed by a full Midwest promotional tour this summer is in store for fans ready to embrace an act that is at the beginning of what promises to be a successful career. The band continues to improve through each performance and each song they write, and that is the key to continuing to make good music Tim says. "Constant improvement is what keeps us inspired to keep writing and it shows no signs of slowing down. Music isn't a choice; it's just something that we do. We're a little bit along for the ride... but mostly consumed by it." While the band continues to evolve musically and settle in for that ride, the good news is there's plenty of room on board for everyone to come along.

Uppidy

Written By: SWAY

I don't care who you are
Unless you're playing this game
This whole messed up worlds to blame
I might just hire some thieves to steal my soul
And beg this girl to let it go
All you find in your mind it could really be true
I'm glad I found it in you
When you take what you make
And the feeling comes through
You better give it a woo hoo hoo
I don't know who you are
Unless you're leaving this town
I hear you're tangled in love it's a bad sound
Well take the rhythm and rhyme
It's all in due time I'm gonna make this mine

Ooh you're breakin' down
I don't need you to tell me how

You see I ran into an addict
Said he had it but he lost it in the habit
Think I could better put it
If I wasn't so messed up
You think you got it, but forget it,
It's all in due time I'm gonna make this mine

I don't care who you are
Unless you're playing this game
This whole messed up worlds to blame
Too many times I've been fine with the serious side
But this time I'm gonna laugh it off the same
In the valley she was soft, the fusion right
You gotta take it to a better conclusion slide
Into a world with stiff solid ground
And take this thing and get it solved
See I don't know what you to do
But you’re feeling this groove
I'm glad I found it in you
Oh when you take what you make
And the feeling comes through
You'd better give it a hoo hoo hoo
And I don't know who you are
Unless you're leaving this town
I hear you're tangled in love it's a bad sound
Well take the rhythm and rhyme
It's all in due time I'm gonna make this mine

Ooh you're breakin' down
Oh, I don't need you to tell me how
Well I swallow it where I stood,
Maybe I should say it’s all good,
But if I could bring it back sometime
With every ounce of life I've had
You think you got it but forget it,
It's all in due time I'm gonna make this mine

Two Candles

Written By: SWAY

Here between two candles gleaming
I'm spilling all my words to you and they're sinking
All these simple words you're feeling now
They're the best that I can do, it got me thinking
Well my mind has gotten modified by this night
And I want to fight it till it's long gone
And bust it all across this empty shore
I'm beginning to think my philosophy's all wrong
I feel that all the world is a stage now and I am just a song
Can you meet me in the parking lot?
You breathe cold but you always feel so hot
Gotta leave it to the beat, baby please
Just paint it like a masterpiece

And all you wanted was a life (wanted was a life)
And all you needed was a light (needed was a light)
And I'm supposed to treat you right, tonight
And blend it over everything
So relax and take it slow and just enjoy the show

In the path of the sweet sunrises
It's a dream I had to survive it
Feel the motion of the flow in risin'
A fatal black attack to your time it'll
Take you, make you, want to feel the break through
Shake you, fake you, baby what did we do?
Drop the real take and stop the tape, I still got to feel it in you
Can you meet me in the parking lot?
You breathe cold but you always feel so hot
Gotta leave it to the beat, baby please
Just paint it like a masterpiece

And all you wanted was a life (wanted was a life)
And all you needed was a light (needed was a light)
And I'm supposed to treat you right, tonight
And blend it over everything
So take a breath and hold on tight and just explode tonight

So in the past here between two candles
I feel the pain of the slate that God handles
And I can still hear the constant gambles
Rearrange the face and I feel it
I see you in the darkest light, I hold you in my arms tonight
It's got to be just more than I can ever believe
So then meet me in the parking lot
You breathe cold but you always feel so hot
Gotta leave it to the beat, baby please
Just paint it like a masterpiece

And all you wanted was a life (wanted was a life)
And all you needed was a light (needed was a light)
And I'm supposed to treat you right, tonight
And blend it over everything
So relax and take it slow and just enjoy the show

A Room With A View

Written By: SWAY

I fell asleep on the floor in the airport
Hoping to catch your plane coming in

Oh, is everybody listening
A brand new song, an old steel voice
Takes me down to find you in a steady choice
She wanna leave me in this place
She wants it all to be erased
She don't give a damn now
Spinning round in circles around your clocks, hands in reverse
Worst curse, the nurse was so sure there was no cure
For a poor old little miss fall apart
Making love with the lights on
Walk your dog every day to the same song
Freebird but you always got the words wrong
Can't learn cause you said it'd take too long

Maybe staring at the Marriott
On the balcony by a palm tree
It might have kind of christened me
Above all the whispering leaves
I feel like its okay to be let down
I'm pickin' up all the stars I found

Now she's got a burial ground
Of all the promises gone wrong, yeah
Just like a man without a song
And when it's too late to catch the next train
In a last take, you fake some dramatic escape
Too late the engine's on, I'm gone, nothing left for
A poor old little miss lingerie, walk around in it all day
Finally feel the swing going our way
One dance but afraid of what she might say
Baby here once around here on this stage

Maybe staring at the Marriott
On the balcony by a palm tree
It might have kind of christened me
Above all the whispering leaves
I feel like its okay to be let down
I'm pickin' up all the stars I found

I fell asleep on the floor in the airport
Hopin' to catch your plane coming in

Sweet dreams my dear, I love you completely
I'm writing and fighting
Long days laundry smells like you
And I'm tryin' to clean my room without you're perfume
And I burnt those letters too
That I never really wanted to lose
Little miss freezin' time, feelin' out what you can't find
Answering, my baby will be mine
I'm sure that that it's right about my way, I can see
The blank stare at the TV she said the stereos going crazy
I'm runnin' up, up, I know it's been fallen in mind
And I reach for the sky but it's so hard to find

Maybe staring at the Marriott
On the balcony by a palm tree
It might have kind of christened me
Above all the whispering leaves
I feel like its okay to be let down
I'm pickin' up all the stars I found

Rehab

Written By: SWAY

So I take a step back, give a minute to react
Then I snap and send her right back to rehab
You might think I'm crazy baby
But it comes with the energy they gave me
And now I've cried about the sweet face of love
I've been there since the falling of dawn
But something is breaking me and taking me so far
Like a manic in the psycho ward yeah

I don't mind just sitting here a while
Just waiting on some sun to shine
If I could break apart these motions I can't find
You know it's better than you
Find a lonely place and bottle your friends
You bottle your friends, they're saving you

In reminding times of all constancy
It's a real batter part rip thing in me yeah
Well you might think you're fine and alright
But it's better to wake up without lines in your eyes
And was it worth it just for one night alone
To know that you can never be stoned
Well it's time to love, it's time to live
And you've got to give, got to give yeah

Please don't fall across the wave now
As I beg to let you go no
Singing time to follow your heart
Follow you home, they're saving you

I don't mind just sitting here a while
Just waiting on some sun to shine
If I could break apart these motions I can't find
You know it's better than you
Find a lonely place and bottle your friends
You bottle your friends, they're saving you

A New Way To Get Through

Written By: SWAY

Well It's time to tell you what I mean to hide
Let somebody new into my world
And back and forth we say it's really mine
She's got the feel cause you know that she's feeling fine
I want to know if you feel the same as I do

Well time is reaching back in your heart
Angel it's a vision indecision and all the things that you are
And I don't need to know about it, I kind of feel I got it
I'm sure I'll figure it out cause

I'm out to find me a new way to get through to you
I'm picking up right where you left off like you do

When I'm sitting over the city
A glare into the eyes from the world that walks right by
Reaching out for something but it never really comes
So overqualified that I lose my mind
And every night it's like the same damn thing
You wanna make it alright but you can't get in the swing
I'm at it alone, I bet you're feeling the tone
But I'm writing to let you know
And no, this isn't good
No, don't be angry with me

I'm out to find me a new way to get through to you
I'm picking up right where you left like you do

When something is certain don't rise or lower the curtain
I'm about to come over the top
And hope that all of my melody's work
And it's a lot to bold or so I been told
I grab it all up and let it go
I'm finding out what you know
And every night it's like the same damn thing
You wanna make it alright but you can't get in the swing
I'm at it alone, I bet you're feeling the tone
But I'm writing to let you know
And no, this isn't good
No, don't be angry with me

I'm out to find me a new way to get through to you
I'm picking up right where you left like you do
And I'm out to find me a new way to get through to you
I'm picking up, I'm picking up
