THEY MET AS ENEMIES
Alt-rocker Jordan Arax and electronica artist pir8-x (AKA Andrew Thomas Clark) first met as adversaries in Toronto early 2008. They were both finalists in a CFNY The Edge / Jägermeister / Phoenix Concert Theatre indie new rock contest. Neither band emerged as a clear winner. And, by the end of the night, enmity had dissolved into grudging respect.

THE HIRED GUN
The acts stayed in touch and shared stages again until the dissolution of Jordan’s three-piece in late 2009. When Jordan turned to experimentation with electro/industrial elements for his new Sweet Baby Kill project, Andrew was initially brought in as a tech consultant to help out with monitor mixing and device synchronization for a five piece live act. By concert night, Andrew (as pir8-x) somehow ended up on stage - rocking an old school video-game joystick hooked up to filter effects!

SBK EVOLVES
Fairly quickly, SBK was pared down to its current line-up of just two full-time members. The act became a studio-focused collaboration between a pair talented and committed producer/songwriters. The style began to gel into a dark alt-electronica sound with New Wave influences. Singles started to be produced and mastered, leading with 2010’s “Sweet Kill Baby”, for which an indie commercial video was also shot.

PARAGRAPH IV - A NEW HOPE
The studio-project nature of the two-piece wouldn’t immediately suggest much of a live show. Increasingly, however, SBK is taking to the stage – surprisingly effectively, by all accounts. This is attributable to Jordan’s impressive live vocal presence, his interest and aptitude in creative set design, and Andrew’s constant development of innovative control devices and routings.

TRIVIA
In the late 90s, Andrew worked as a producer/composer in the video game industry.
In the mid-2000s, Andrew was an audio programmer on SEGA/Pseudo Interactive’s “Full Auto” franchise (Xbox 360 and PS3).
