"This Little Underground: Norse Korea mini-fest highlights"

"Night two (Will’s Pub and Lil Indies) yielded a couple revelations. The most realized was Ft. Lauderdale’s Sweet Bronco, whose deep, mature sound is a return to the stateliness of early millennial indie rock. They’re a well-crafted tapestry of nice melodies, sonorous reach and lots of atmosphere." - Orlando Weekly - Orlando Weekly

"Top Five Local Bands That Should Have Made It Big"

"Sweet Bronco is the brainchild of Fort Lauderdale's Chris Horgan, an endlessly talented frontman who looks the Everyman part but whose swirling, enchanting vocals and mesmerizing guitar strokes are anything but ordinary. Under the moniker Sweet Bronco, Horgan produces white-noise-laden beauties with honeyed harmonies that evoke the better moments of Doves (the band, but Sweet Bronco tunes are really that serene) and Boo Radley albums. Sweet Bronco offers the world a taste of tropical dream pop. After a three-year hiatus, the band has returned with a few recently scheduled gigs, including one this week at Propaganda in Lake Worth." - New Times - New Times - Broward/Palm Beach

"The March Has Begun"

"From the first few seconds of Sweet Bronco’s soon-to-be-released debut album, Morning Night, a pronounced schizophrenic influence shimmers forth that reveals this record as refreshingly original. It’s a wash of fuzzy shoegaze mixed with stomping, raw Americana." - PureHoney

"Best Singer/Songwriter (2015)"

Playing currently in his band Sweet Bronco and previously in Catalonia, Horgan is, year in and year out, probably the single best songwriter in South Florida. Like all great singers, he started early and was lucky enough to have ended up in the Florida Singing Sons, which produced other local success stories like Boots (Beyoncé's producer and songwriter). It should be noted, though, that training alone does not an artist make, and both Horgan's songwriting and voice are far stronger than most in the South Florida scene. Putting his boy-choir skills to work, Horgan has steadily built a massive catalog and toured last year in Sweet Bronco supporting the French singer Soko around the Southeast. The Horganator is currently engaged in a variety of writing and performance projects, working with former Boots bandmate David Barnard and others on new and interesting stuff. - New Times Broward/Palm Beach

south florida based indie pop quartet sweet bronco play a weird neo psychedelic folk rock that’s drawn comparisons to grizzly bear, low, the verve, belle & sebastian, spoon, and roy orbison. they’ve been playing live on-and-off since 2010 with a revolving cast of players. core members chris horgan (founding member and chief songwriter) and david barnard (multi-instrumentalist and chief producer) are currently working in the studio recording their second album scheduled for release in October 2016.

sweet bronco songs compile simple sonic layers that gradually build into complex atmospheric soundscapes. and from that backdrop emerges horgan's distinct melodic and lyrical style that is altogether heartfelt and memorable. the result is a unique blend of blissful droning shoegaze textures infused with accessible pop melodies.

both horgan and barnard both grew up in south florida singing and playing music in community groups. horgan was a choirboy and toured nationally and in england as a soloist until his voice changed at age 13. it was then that he, inspired mostly by the pixies, radiohead, and pulp, started playing guitar and writing songs. barnard came from an evangelical christian family and played guitar in christian rock church bands until eventually rebelling to indulge in a turbulent motley crue-esque rock & roll lifestyle. the two met when horgan's girlfriend interviewed barnard's band stonefox for her local music scene blog. when stonefox frontman jordan asher left the band to work on beyonce's staff of album producers, barnard joined horgan in sweet bronco.

together with an interchangeable cast of south florida's finest indie rock musicians, horgan and barnard have been gigging throughout florida opening for national acts like silversun pickups, surfer blood, gringo starr, roadkill ghost choir, turbo fruits, the misfits, and soko to name a few. They recently made it up to new york to play a couple showcases at the cmj music marathon. They are currently booking festival and show dates, mostly on the east coast, to support their forthcoming album release this fall.
