"Steps Into the Light"

Stevin Knight may label his music synth-rock, but it’s really difficult to categorize. He and his band, sweetest Infection, perform their unusual music on December 8th at The Lounge inside the Palms. “It’s theatrical-production-meets-local-rock-band,” says Knight. He moved to Vegas from San Diego with his family when he was 13 years old and quickly became fascinated by shows on the Strip, especially the magicians. “Vegas has everything to do with where I am today,” explains Knight, who studied the showmanship of Vegas entertainers and uses the lessons on stage.

After moving to Hollywood in his late teens, Knight returned to Vegas two years ago. Since then, the 25 year old recorded his first album, No Rear View Mirrors. The album has a European-inspired electro-rock sound with overtones of house and ‘80s music. “I grew up listening to Depeche Mode,” says Knight. “I chose music because the connection I had with that band really influenced me.” He covered their song, Enjoy The Silence, on this album and the video for it’s first single, Free Your Mind, will begin airing on the all-music television network Fuse at the end of the year.
