The inaugural performance for intriguing new venue Top Floor Galleries, Sweet Fawn’s affecting set this evening establishes a high watermark from the outset. The trio’s unique instrumentation (cello, violin, acoustic guitar) is utilised to full effect throughout layered songs like ‘Ready To Lose’ and ‘Everything Else’ and the outfit’s songwriting is both consistent and flexible in its application. An interpretive dance section comically shoehorned into a sterling rendition of Johnny Cash’s ‘A Thing Called Love’, meanwhile, is demonstrative of the trio’s admirable and entertaining flair for live performance.'
