Bio

“I am not a rapper… I’m a hip-hop artist” is what JaNay "Sweetie" Rahaman repeats to many people on a daily basis. Sweetie's dream is to demonstrate her creative abilities in remarkable ways that can touch the lives of ALL people regardless of race, gender and age.

Sweetie has been blessed in plenty of categories involving music. Her professional skills ranging from song writing to spitting lyrics is what gave her the title as “Da Illest Dame”. She's been the lyrical ghost behind several of local entertainers from Detroit, Canada, Ohio and Chicago.

Being compared to rappers such as Eve, MC Lyte and Shawnna P. are considered compliments to Sweetie because she was inspired by all of the talented entertainers. However, she refuses to be among the ordinary. Her powerful voice is molded into a sassy but demanding tone that’s guaranteed to catch your attention. If there’s anyone who disagrees they will most definitely be impressed with her creative lyrics.

Sweetie has been on a determined road to stardom since the age of 9. Performing is her most valued activity as an entertainer. Therefore, there hasn't been a mic she wouldn't rock. From 1994 to 1996, she played the starring role in a headliner folk tale play that toured the private and public schools in Michigan called "The People Could Fly". She also was the co-star of a silent film called "Silence Of Chrome" in 2008. "silence of Chrome" has won several awards around the world. Sweetie loves acting but being an hip-hop artist is her most valued talent.

In the summer of 2003 Sweetie put out her first mix tape named "Da ILLest Dame". She sold over 300 copies on the streets of Detroit. This mix tape received so many good responses so Sweetie sold 300 more in the summer of 2004. To continue to supply the growing supporters of Sweetie, she released another mix tape on October 15, 2005. This mix tape titled "Sweetie's Day' sold over 500 copies in less than 2 months. Her hot single called Sweetie's Day hit the air waves in Detroit and she received great support from plenty of DJ's and radio personalities.

Beauty, talent and brains are only few of her qualities. This phenomenon wont rest until she has accomplished what she strives so hard for. Her music is unbelievable and talent is undeniable. Sweetie “Da ILLest Dame” is truly a hip-hop artist on the rise.
