"Moreno Valley band 'sweet' on rock!"

Friends and local musicians Graham Marsh, Alex Davidson and Jeff Barba, all of Moreno Valley, having been playing together on and off for the past ten years. But in the last four years the trio has been focusing on their "CrazyGroovyFunkyRock" band "SweetSize."
"Our music began as more for us and less for them," said Marsh, the band's bassist and vocalist. "As of late SweetSize is leaning towards less technical and mind-blowing riffs and trying to go a little more with the flow without completely losing our extremely talented and off the wall ways."

The band's name came from a nickname for Marsh's dog and seeing the marketing possibilities with SweetSize, the name stuck.

But before they were SweetSize, they were three kids in the high school band.

Marsh began on the clarinet, then trumpet, French horn, and piano, picking up the bass in the eighth grade "and never stopped playing."

Barba started with brass instruments in 1986, playing the trumpet.

"I wanted to be a jazz musician and hit notes in the stratosphere like Maynard Ferguson," he said.

And for Davidson the guitar came easy, and he learned to play by ear.

"The sound of blues guitar gave me chills," he said. Like many bands, the musicians and their

music have evolved over time.
"My music has become more soulful and the songwriting more balanced,"

Davidson said. "And as a band, the music has evolved to a more focused sound with great hooks and flowing melodies."

"We will always have that RCrazyGroovyFunkyRock' sound as demonstrated by such incredible musical acts as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus, Dave Matthews, infectious grooves...the list can go on and on," Marsh said.

"Music is truly the soundtrack of our lives," Barba said. "We create music using our everyday lives as inspiration. When tragedy strikes, our music reflects that and allows us to move on. Similarly, when life is going swimmingly, our music not only reflects but can enhance that positivity in both the musicians and listeners alike."

Barba said the band would love to make a profession out of making music and continues to work towards that goal.

"We would also love to record more CDs, get national radio play, and go on tour," Barba added.

But so far the band has had many successes. Being signed to Rivercidal Syndicate Records made it possible for SweetSize to produce their debut album "CrazyGroovyFunkyRock." Available on iTunes and CDbaby.

"We have also played some really good shows with great bands like the Skeletones, Voo doo Glow skulls, Shoppy, Inhale, and Keno Champ," Barba added.

"But none of this could be possible without the support of our families, adoring fans, Bernie "Primo" Garcia (C.E.O. of Rivercidal Records) and Alexs wonderful aunt, the major financial proprietors for our debut."
