"The Sopchoppy Opry Rolls With Great Talent"

April 17, 2005

Al and Wretha Webb, both veteran musicians and vocalists, have traveled throughout the southeast and performed in concerts with country music legends Vern Gosdin and Gene Watson. The Webbs bring an international flair to the stage as well, having been invited to perform their special brand of music in Ireland and England, where they were featured on a radio broadcast that created an instant fan base for them there. One music critic wrote after seeing the Webb's perform, "Al & Wretha Webb both have incredible lead vocal talent, but it's when they harmonize together that one thing is for certain - they are a perfect match." - Wakulla.com

Bio

What happens when a couple of veteran country performers, a few hard-driving bluegrass musicians, and a bluesy folksinger decide to make music together?

It’s Swiftwater.

Joan Alderman is the 2008 Florida Old-Time Harmonica Champion, and has been playing harmonica and banjo in Panhandle bluegrass bands for almost three decades.

Al & Wretha Webb have traveled throughout the southeast and performed in concerts with country music legends Vern Gosdin and Gene Watson.

Veteran bluegrass musicians, Ruth Hagy and Jesse Seabolt, round out the group on bass and mandolin.

And Amy Alderman? Well, Amy just loves to sing.

Their sound is a fusion of bluegrass, folk, gospel, blues, and classic country styles. Doc Watson called it “traditional-plus,” others call it Americana, these folks just call it having a good time.
