Bio

Swizzle is a guitar-driven pop band that hails from the 3 cities of Providence, RI, Brooklyn, NY and Boston, MA. The 14 songs on Swizzle's debut CD, A Different Kind of Trouble will make you remember just how effective and intelligent a 3-minute pop song can be. From the twanging opening strains of "Promise" to the hard driving "Bliss" or the 12 stringed lament of "If I Can't Make You Cry," Swizzle has an uncanny, unpretentious knack for affable hooks and buoyant melodies. The album moves effortlessly from full-tilt rockers - "Bliss", to groovin' like it's Sunday afternoon electro pop - "Daily Dip", to a song about their favorite 70s teen star "James at 17".

Someone from a British record company once referred to Swizzle as "Pavement on quaaludes." The band took it as a compliment. Swizzle is often compared to Yo La Tengo, The Velvet Underground and Luna. The member of the band share a common love for the stripped-down sounds of often overlooked 80s bands such as Miracle Legion, The Feelies, and The Dream Syndicate.

Formed in 1996 in Boston, MA, Swizzle began when housemates Kevin Turbitt (vocals/guitar), Dave Sakowski (vocals/guitar) and Kristen Girard (Drums) got together to jam in a friends rehearsal space. The three immediately clicked musically and had written a batch of songs by the end of the night. Soon afterward they recruited Ingrid Hoffius on bass and Swizzle was born. The band recorded a three song vinyl single "Bliss" for Cassiel Records and toured the east coast and midwest. In 1999 their song "Humble Pie" released on a compilation from Chapel Hill, NC label Eskimo Kiss Records. Soon after the band members moved to different cities, but managed to keep playing gigs around New England and recording new material.

A few years and 2 bass players later, Swizzle is set to release it's debut CD "A Different Kind of Trouble" on it's own Krave Record label. With the addition of ex-Ultra Breakfast singer/bassist Josh Boughey handling bass and backup vocal duties Swizzle is once again ready to rock.
