"Swoon! That is cultural San Francisco…."

Photographer David Yu writes,
Haight Ashbury street fair San Francisco 2005:
This is my first time at the Haight Ashbury street fair in San Francisco. There were so many people walking on the street. There was so much variety of drinks, food and live music. I like the music from Swoon! That is cultural San Francisco….

Bio

Swoon

Swoon: intr.v. (swôôn)

1. To faint
2. To be overwhelmed by ecstatic joy

OK, maybe you won’t faint, but you will be moved.

Comprised of former members of Specimen, Fade to Black, Thrill of the Pull, and Until December, the members of Swoon have opened for such legendary acts as the New York Dolls, Sisters of Mercy, Love & Rockets, Joan Jett, Janes Addiction, Nine Inch Nails and the Ramones, just to name a few.

They are an original act of melodic rock, poetic haunting vocals, hypnotizing guitars with a classic moody alternative edge.

Personal influences range from Roxy Music, The Doors and Jeff Buckley to Sonic Youth, Sisters of Mercy and Echo and the Bunnymen.

Personal Biographies:

Scotty is the voice of Swoon!
Brought up on a steady diet of Celtic folk music & 60's garage legends like The Seeds, The Music Machine, The Stooges and most of all The Doors, Scotty grabbed hold of the simplistic and immediate message that these great bands and styles offered, along with the D.I.Y. ethic of the punk and post-punk scenes to shape a style all his own. His exciting & unpredictable on-stage energy is a rarity in these times of pre-packaged performances.

Stephan is guitarist of Swoon!
Playing in bands since the age of 13, Stephan’s guitar playing is a tribute to every guitarist whose sound has passed through him. With influences ranging from the obvious to the obscure! His sound encompasses a deep love of harmonic feedback and eastern dissonance coupled wildly with pounding resolve and swirling finesse. Stephan's sound takes a page from Mick Ronson and a little Jimmy Page by way of The Chameleons.

Brad is guitarist for Swoon!
With a lifetime of experience behind him and armed with his trusty fender telecaster, Brad brings a steady, melodic voice to Swoon. A talented songwriter & arranger with a great knowledge of rock music roots & traditions. Holding a great love for the music of the Australian underground, Brad’s influences are many, including: Tom Verlaine (Television) Sterling Morrison (Velvet Underground), Marc Bolan (T. Rex) and the great Steve Kilbey of The Church.

Tim is the drummer for Swoon!
Hailing from London, England, Tim is the pounding force of Swoon. Playing in garage bands starting in his teens, he developed a style based in part on the songs he heard coming from his radio as a child. Bands like the Dave Clark Five, and later on David Bowie, Roxy Music and the sadly underappreciated Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Tim went on to play in the London’s infamous batcave scene for the band Specimen.
