Syas

Syas is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Brian Barrett. Spurred on by his love for music and his hatred for synthesizers, Brian spent the past five years writing, rewriting, and recording with the goal to bridge the gap between catchy, melodic indie rock and the more complex, expansive sounds of post-rock. Drawing on influences such as Sunny Day Real Estate, Rainer Maria and Explosions In The Sky, Syas carefully manipulates time signatures and employs a healthy amount of reverb to create incredibly textured, epic songs.

Brian teamed up with Matt McMonagle and Nic Alexander of The Jackson Climb recording studio for Syas' debut EP "Put Down Your Sythensizers". In October 2010, Brian enlisted the help of a few friends to fill out the roster and start playing shows in the Seattle area.

Syas will be releasing their first full length album, "Stained Glass", in the first half of 2011.
