Bio

Hey, I'm Sydney. I am 21 years old and I'm from Houston, Texas. Here’s my story: For as long as I can remember, music has been an aspect of my life that I could never live without. But it wasn’t until Hurricane Ike in 2008, when I found a guitar under my sister’s bed and taught myself how to play, that my love of music turned into an unquenchable desire to make it my career. I began playing acoustic shows and at open mic nights wherever I could and played for anyone who was willing to listen. It was then that I fell in love with performing. I love the incredible rush I feel every time I step in front of an audience, and how I can automatically connect with them through music.

A year later, I met producer, Andy Anderson, on an airplane. He encouraged me to start songwriting, so I did just that. With songwriting came the development of my unique sound and style, influenced by various artists such as Colbie Caillat, Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette, and Taylor Swift. My unfortunate history of failed relationships coupled with years of studying Psychology at Texas A&M University fueled my interest in studying relationships and interaction, and trying to rationalize what makes people do or say certain things, and I write songs about it. I write a lot about love, particularly lack there-of, because I have yet to find stronger, more thought-provoking experiences than love and hate.

I find that music has an incredible way of connecting people, touching people, and changing people. A single song holds the unexplainable power to change the course of my day; a single verse may beautifully express exactly how I feel about something when I could not find the right way to put it into words. The hope that my songs will have that kind of effect on people further fuels my desire to continue my pursuit of a career in music.

In late December of 2010, I began recording in Nashville with producer, Andy Anderson and have been working on a 7 song EP that will be released soon. I have established a solid and loyal fan base and have been playing shows and co-writing with other artists. I look forward to seeing where this road takes me and I’m excited about all the opportunities ahead.

Thank you so much for listening to my music and supporting me throughout this process! Y'all are amazing.
