"I must say that I was happily surprised to see Jimmy Vargas again this week performing in Rich Machine. It was unexpected. Serendipity I guess. The man has a remarkable stage voice...kind of Psych-lounge-lizard-crooner. His performance on 'Hexotica' and 'Slaughterhouse' were the real highlight for me on the night due to the concentration of style.
"The entire 'slide-show' backdrop was a minefield of trance, in particular the images thrown up during Jimmy's 'Hexotica', which had definite shades of some Kenneth Anger film moments. Very impressive. Well-done to whoever created these images...
"The vibraphone (?) and flute combination along with Richard D'Addona's crazy synchopated jazz rhythms made the 'soundtrack' an awesome shaggy ride. Elias'(?) heart-felt rapping adding an important modern street element...
"I saw last night as an updated version of what I imagine the UFO Club (60's London) may have been like with 'happenings' of freaky fun and electrico-psychadelicious-fantasty-lightshows n' sounds. An incredibly talented bunch of individuals. They should record this dynamite stuff... Thanks Brett for organising this."
