"Character A+ & #1 album 2005"

Undressmerobot.com(USA): 'Coming out of nowhere from Norway, these suckers made one of the best and most eclectic indie rock albums I've heard in
a long while. Swing Swing is a journey, not just a CD. Syme’s music is a breath of fresh air in a world where almost all music is easily jammed into fixed genres. I live for this kind of music, and this album easily tops my 2005 list.'

"A great surprise...5/6"

A varied album and a great surprise (...) One of the best arguments to stop categorizing music I have heard in a long time' - Aftenposten (Norway)

"Exceptionally strong... 5/6"

'Swing Swing is an exceptionally strong and varied debut album, displaying their talent for both dreamy pop and explosive noise rock.' - Bergens Avis

"The years best debuting band?"

'Good oldfashioned indie is back for sure. Here in Norway Serena Maneesh lead the pack, but also Bergen group Syme impressed with the ambitious genre-crushing Swing Swing...The years best debuting band?' - Ballade.no

"A small treasure without a single blemish."

'If you like Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Radiohead and Bjørk, you should get Swing Swing. Syme mix the best of all these bands into an album which is best described as no less than a small treasure without a single blemish.' 6/6 - Hugin (Norway)

"A cult band of international size."

'Beautiful, beautiful harmonies and driving grooves that capture and hypnotise you. Syme can quickly become a cult band of international size. This is balsam for stressed souls.' - Hitfactory

"Mandatory listening..."

'Lovely Syme! This is mandatory listening' - Rogalands Avis (Norway)

"A playful, liberating and experimental...5/6"

'Funky rhythms and a great concept. A playful, liberating and experimental album.' 5/6 - Nesteklikk.no

"Concert review in Studvest"

20/2-2006: 'The whole thing was fantastically beautiful, and there was often a mystical and magical atmosphere in the music. The concert was never boring, because just when you thought you knew where they were heading - that's when they take off the safety and radiate a wall of heavy, energetic, noisy rock!' Character A - Studvest (Norway)

Bio

Syme have been playing together since 2002, and after three critically acclaimed releases and around 100 shows in their native Norway are finally poised to take the next step into the murky waters of the international music scene. Emerging from a domestic scene full of derivative, play-by-numbers garage rock bands SYME dare to be different and have been pushing the boundaries of genre ever since their self-released debut Planetarium EP in 2004. Their music embraces everything from rock to electronica, noise to jazz, pop to classical but always comes out with that unique SYME sound. Highlights from the bands career so far include receiving international acclaim for their debut album 'Swing Swing' with reviews from as far afield as the US, England, Bosnia, Italy and Singapore, and playing an exclusive sold out show on a boat on the river Seine in Paris,France in 2006. In addition, with the release of their reworking of David Bowie's classic 1980's hit 'Modern Love' in November 2006 and the collection of remixes by some of Norway's most innovative musical luminaries SYME have firmly established themselves as Norway's next 'most-likely-to-succeed'. Their new album 'No Spark- No Heart is scheduled for release in October 2007 and SYME will play festivals in both their home country and abroad this year. The band are also delighted to have signed a contract with New York based lifestyle company 'The Musebox' which will mark the genesis of SYME's appearance on North American music lover's raders.

No artist likes to compare themselves to others but for the sake of reference it's worth mentioning that reviewers often compare Syme to names like Sigur Ros, Postal Service, Radiohead and Mogwai.

In the last 6 months the band have displayed a manic work rate and have made appearances at CMJ, Pop Montreal, Canadian Music Week, SXSW and are lined up for NXNE in June 2008.
