Biography

Formed in early 2006, Sympathy Ends consisted of 6 musicians from East Side San Jose, Ca. After making a name for themselves in their local scene, they began branching out into other areas where they've continuously left their mark on the underground Metal and Hardcore scenes. In late 2006, they recorded their first self-titled EP ("A Hardcore Classic," -Nor-Cal Hardcore Magazine) at Castle Ultimate Studios with producer Zack Ohren (Light This City, All Shall Perish, Embrace The End) and was independently released November 2006 . After selling out of each copy and playing consistent show after show, one of the EP's fell into the hands and caught the attention of a California based Indie Label, Dead Royalty Records in 2007. Following the re-release of the EP under the label, the track "Scent Of Regret" was chosen for their first single due to it's widely known crowd popularity. After furthering a sound all their own and the continuous show playing, the band caught the eye of another label in 2008, Pitch Black Records. With an offer too good to refuse and a chance to broaden out into other scene genres, they gladly accepted in March 2008. Later that year the band decided it was time to release original guitarist, Anthony Reyes, due to creative differences. They later recruited Alvin Rideau (former lead guitarist of Red Fall and former vocalist of Defining Samsara) and quickly began writting a new EP which would come to be known as "Architects of Fate". Realizing the talent they brought in, they decided to change up their style, incorporating more clean vocally driven choruses, and their influences of Melodic DeathMetal and Swedish/American Thrash with overtones of Electronica. All while still remaining true to their roots of what helped shape them and make a name for themselves, Hardcore. Soon after the A.O.F. West Coast Tour, the band parted ways with both vocalist Jonny "Janey" Trevino and longtime original drummer Jaqualin Dominguez in mid 2009. The band and each former member still all remain friends on a personal level but due to such drastic changes in their line up, the band was forced to postpone their CD release and upcoming tours. Throughout this dillemma they still kept writing, even after being unsure of what was to come for the four remaining members, and were able to keep their contracts with Pitch Black. (Also, due to the fact of the major line up changes that had occurred, both Sympathy Ends and their label decided to not release the mastered copies of the Architects.. album, instead choosing to completely start over fresh.) After holding tryouts for vocals, the band decided to push for finding a new drummer to complete their musical lineup, first bringing in Trevor Smith (ex drummer for He Wants My Blood.) After one tryout and a jam session, the band knew he was a fit and joined SE in September 2009. Several months after Trevor's arrival, and the continuous tryouts after tryouts, the band finally decided on vocalist Paul Anderson (ex vocalist of The Fortune Teller.) After hearing his unique scream/singing style that he was able to perform and switch back to back live, SE knew they'd found their new front man. Now back to their original 6 piece outfit, the band resigned under their old management Nemesis Records (formerly Pitch Black Records) and is scheduled to release a new EP in 2010 and set to start touring again by mid year as well.

Bound By Steel

Bound By Steel

The first born of five sits lucidly upon a cot in an unfamiliar setting.
"Oh! Mother please reverse what I've done. Look how naïve your son has become."
The sky is red and gray. If given the choice again, it would have never happened.
His present and future - lock and key - shall be grievous as each day is diseased.
"Those are his father's eyes! The lack of moral sight got him into this mess.
My poor bastard son, my greatest love and blood."
"Shackle me down. I promise to not make a sound.
If I tried to fight, I'd be wearing the crown I bore at a time when I was young and pride was all I wore."
A time before his life was behind a steel cellar door. . .

Warrior and Maiden

Written By: Paul Anderson

Warrior and Maiden

They've come the dreaded monsters of our collected closets
Co-mingling with devices. The true eloquence resides in certain strengths.
And young Lucius would fight as his father taught him.
Wielding, wounding, wasting words. Weaving tired tenures into tactful tethers.
Seeking a sinking code of honorable herds.
Reaching for voids of all the unheard.
Dismembered, disheartened - what cause to blame on it?
Distinguishing a man from monster, a warrior from civilian.
Only as civil as civilization allows him to be - only as civil as civilization.
"When I'm cut in battle will that wound bleed more than the will to fight for her?
If I fall, will I feel our life leave?"
Lush carpets of clouds drift serenely overhead yet uncorrupted landscapes;
Verdant and flawless. Harsh crashes can now be heard fore-bearing immanent deliverance.
Be delivered unto slabs of sacrificial stone.
"And brave Lucius (who died for me), body broken, screaming 'hope lives'.
Waiting to grasp a non-existent life giver.
Drift to sleep on your bed of crisp fallen leaves. Drift to sleep. . ."
A fair maiden, a siren for all he is aware. Vagrant thoughts shift him closer to that maiden, so fair.
Taken unaware by a tool such as his own, what better pain has he ever known?

Revelations From Dawn Til Dusk

Revelations From Dawn Til Dusk

Dawn sheds new rays of radian light,
Born is a prophet divine is His grace.
Comes to save the human race, so the storybook says.
What can one derive from a text?
Dust coated, lost on my heart, lost on my mind.
It matters not where your faith lies nor does it matter if one transcends
Upon demise. All that matters is that you have faith,
In more than a higher power. In something you can understand and accept.
What brought us to ‘make your eyes blue and as a blonde you’d be cute’?
A gender, race, and class biased society judging the exteriors of all.
Vanquishing those who simply believe in what we consider false.
The sun will set once more, hiding the pools of blood and wet swords.
The sphere continues its turn knowing the secret: Humans will never learn.

Trinity Of Tragedies

Trinity of Tragedies

Silence and cold; an image portrayed of deceased watchers – same blood.
Instilled in a young mind to be debated by the evolved said free.
Count the blessings, retain the memories.
This pretense came from Hell itself.
Stripped to be buried, victims of Holy War.
Cruel and crude crucifixes encircle by stars, encircled themselves.
Dashing comets collide with crescent moons in endless night
On a multi-verse where Sympathy Ends before it begins,
No hope for future. No wealth in these artifacts, no wealth beyond hate.
Force-fed checkmates surrender power to the state.
A man like any other man, a man like no other man confident that his cadavers
Growing in number would beset upon him instant glamour.
Gratification of any other nature – constant concerned future,
No mother to nurture. Untrained daydreams yield tamed fey streams.
Said evolved wisdom reeks of honorable disdain.
The parade won’t halt its wheels, its metal minds gears grind and squeal.

The Ascension

The Ascension

I don’t feel the comfort on solid ground, into the vacant skies I ride.
I pause and I look down in an almost guilty way, the wicked plead for my stay.
I chuckle and flock away no longer a prisoner of torment.
Fortune is mine this day and like your mind, can’t be changed.
I struggle to discover what grips me, what pulls me to uncover such thoughts
I’ve destroyed all I’ve been.
Chapters of a story so dull, yet so bright its display gives some hope
I will walk the set path but there’s no chance that I will follow thieves.
There is no set path that would be right for me.
I struggle to discover what grips me, what pulls me to uncover such thoughts
I’ve destroyed all I’ve been.
I know I’ll awake one day with no more questions for this life.
In silence I’ll find my closure with all means of strength at my disposal.
I still can’t feel comfort in the air, drawn to a disguise as I tear into the vacant sky.
What still evades me is what has taken me. Little star, tell me is it time?
“This is the last vision.”
I struggle to discover what grips me, what pulls me to uncover such thoughts
I’ve destroyed all I’ve been.
I searched the stretching sky for answers.
The full moon gives the only one I need. Their anger manifests
As they glance at my followers for help.
Fortune is mine today and like your mind can’t be changed.
