"SYN Breaks Out with New Album"

New local rock band SYN threw their CD release party January 21st at the Pine Cone Cafe'. They played to an adoring crowd. The band is composed of Nick Logue (guitar), Adam Thorfinnson (drums), Dustin Hebner (bass), and Zack Dane (vocals). SYN began playing shows in late 2004 when Logue and Dane found a drummer. The party on the 21st was part of an effort to begin playing some major shows and get larger gigs in Seattle and Vancouver. They want to become widely known throughout the land. SYN's show at the Pine Cone Cafe' was free, band the band plays paying gigs only from now on. The band believes in hitting it hard wherever they go. They prefer to play all-ages shows. Dane is the lyricist of the band, and Logue writes most of the music. Inspiration, Dane says, comes from "personal things I've thought about and also dealt with. I've looked to other friends for inspiration and things they have gone through. Whatever's poppin' through my brain at the second, I will put it down on the page." SYN is influenced by classic rock - Zeppelin, Rush, and Guns 'N' Roses. "If it rocks it's contributed to our sound," says Dane. On starting a band, Dane and Logue have some advice: "Play and play. That's all you can do is keep playing. If you're not going to jump into it with your whole heart and soul, it's not going to happen." SYN doesn't know if they want to be famous. "Even if people are playing in someone's garage and having a good time, and if that's what they want, that's all they need to do. Music is all about individuality," says Dane. Putting together a demo was strenuous for the band. They were hesitant to put anything out because they feared it would make a bad first impression. Consisting of four friends that live and breathe music. SyN plays with their hearts for people who enjoy the feeling and joy music brings. So many influences have fueled them, but a shortened list would include; Led Zeppelin, Guns & Roses, Janes Addiction, Velvet Revolver, Rush, Bob Marley, Audioslave, Nickelback, and H.I.M.
