Syngja

Syngja is the result of combining re-interpreted Icelandic folk songs, psychedelic-pop, strange frequencies and dark distorted beats with a cappella tape recordings of Tyr & ZuZu's Icelandic great-grandmother and live analogue projections.

Songs are developed from long improvised sessions where Tyr and Aleks connect to other realms, be they spiritual or cosmic. Langamma participates when she is so inclined.

Projectionist Zuzu Knew's original drawings, prism vision and acetates bring the living cartoon worlds of ancestors to the present.

Syngja has performed at NXNE 2013, Suoni Per il Popolo (2013), Pop Montreal (2011, 2012), Studio XX (Montreal, 2012), Mono No Aware (Brooklyn, 2011), BeauHaus (Bruxelles, 2012), as well as the usual Montreal afterhours and house parties.

Spooky Icelandic people living in Montreal!  Super interesting string based arrangements.  Bjork and Arthur Russell hanging out, getting weird.  The whole EP is brilliant.  Syngja!
